Reposted by Tim AmorGeoff @aljawf.bsky.social · 16hJesus expected far more from his followers and almost immediately after he left, they began to whittle his commands down to accommodate their rights, namely rights to property. There's no room for Jesus in a person who protects their rights. In its place is a system of double standards. 041
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 06/10/2026We prefer imagining a Jesus who loves the same people that we love, & who hates the same people that we hate. So we use the Bible to hide from the Jesus way—because otherwise we’d have to love our enemies, repent of our biases, deny ourselves, take up our crosses, & follow Him. 1286
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 05/10/2026There exists a martyrdom of those who offer their lives in a single moment, and the more hidden martyrdom of those who give their lives day after day. This is exactly what all Christians are called to do: to give our lives with love, every day. -The Pope 0162

Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 03/10/2026What is God like? God is exactly like Jesus. That’s what scripture says. We didn’t always know that to be true, but now we do. Who would Jesus kill or bomb or execute? Nobody. The followers of Jesus follow Him & let Him be the key to understanding scripture. 1172
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 02/10/2026“for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” ~Jesus Jesus isn’t just talking about swords here—He’s talking about the *way* of the sword. The way of violence. The way of death. The way of killing. The way of state sanctioned murder. The way of Satan. 0102
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The followers of Jesus follow Jesus. The one who said to love our neighbours as ourselves. Love our enemies. Turn the other cheek. Go the extra mile. Do good to those who persecute you. Put away our swords. Biblical justice is about leveling, not about violent vengeance. 0162
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Reminder that the death penalty—& all the support for it—is completely antiChrist. America remains one of the few countries to continue to embrace this violent ideology, since American Christianity has most often worshiped a god of death instead of the Lord of the Resurrection. 0161
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026While our main bathrooms are downstairs (via stairs or elevator), we do have a fully handicap accessible non-gendered bathroom right by the sanctuary with a diaper changing station and a variety of helpful things (cups for a drink of water, bandaids, first aid kit, hygiene supplies, etc). 170
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026We also have standing tables at the back for those who can’t sit (this actually catches people from a wide age spectrum due for a variety of reasons). We do have additional moveable, comfortable seating in the back area that’s closer to the bathrooms too. 160
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Thanks for sharing this! I think our communal gathering/worship spaces (e.g. a sanctuary) should be places where we are mindfully welcoming of others. That includes all ages and mobility needs. So we have spaces in the middle where the pews have been shortened for wheelchairs/walkers. 160

Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Today is a day of lament. A day for repentance. A day for listening. A day for truth. 151
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026We don’t do a lot of up/down standing and try to keep the singing clustered together. We also do the Lord’s Prayer every week—with a copy on screen—so kids can learn to do that prayer with us as a community. Our services last around one hour. 020
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026We have a kids area that’s part of the sanctuary where we rotate some things in little kits/baskets for kids. We’ve removed back pews to make space where they can stretch out on the floor or sit at child-sized tables. Now only the littlest ones go to the play room while most kids stay through. 120
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026During our prayer time we take prayer requests and share joys, and while it’s still rare, I love that kids get to share on mic for that too. We do have a “nursery” or playroom of sorts for little ones that they can go to, but that happens after prayer. 140
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I have made adjustments to how I preach/speak so that kids are invited in to listen/watch as they’d like (e.g. mixing in the use of images that appeal to kids—SpongeBob made an appearance this week). We’ve also adjusted how we choose songs & how often we repeat them. 140
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Unfortunately I’m just doing a short series on a few Mark passages and not going through the whole thing (this is a placeholder series since we had church flooding/damage & we weren’t sure when we’d get back in the sanctuary). So the Mark 6 walking on water passage didn’t make the cut. 010
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Thanks for this! I’ve learned to find value in sticking to single Gospels for comparisons (so I try not to bring Matthew into Mark), so the story of Jesus walking on water is in Mark 6:45-52 and it seems like Jesus is about to reveal Himself as God in some way, but the disciples think he’s a 👻 210
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Thanks for this! It is interesting how the demons usually have to be told to be quiet, but not this time. And it does seem like the disciples are actually experienced in casting out demons too. 110

Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026If we need a separate “children’s church” time that we send our kids to during worship, then we’ve entirely missed the message & purpose of Jesus—the one we’re claiming to worship. Not everything will be geared entirely for them—but everything should include them. 2121
Tim Amor @timamor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Having children feel safe & welcome as full participants as part of our churches on Sunday morning is more important than an adult’s preference for things that cater to them.
