The first thing I had to do was weld in these renforcement plates, I think it turned out ok.
The bottom press apron with a Swag Offroad renforcement plate stitch welded in place, adding extra structural support beyond what the press comes with

The only thing I’m doing immediately is power washing off the moss. Already looking better. Mmmm, structural Bondo!!!
The controls of the tractor before power washing away the moss and lichen, clearly showing a lot of growth all over. The same view after power washing. Some of the original color is coming back, though the paint is in terrible shape and will need to be completely redone

In a very smart decision that I definitely won’t regret, tonight I bought a very cheap 1948 Ford 8N tractor that I want to fully restore as a winter project. The starter is good and the engine turns over, but it’s probably gonna need a whole new fuel system. I’m… excited???

There is an issue on the local ballot that would let the county’s public utilities district investigate buying the power infrastructure and offering electric service in place of the predatory private company PSE, who keep jacking up rates year after year. They’re acting pretty scared. Good.
A flyer with huge text that reads “VOTE NO - KITSAP PUD PROP 1” “Too Costly. Too Risky. No Plan.”The back of the flyer with even more scare tactics. Paid for by Puget Sound Energy.

The Lincoln Idealarc 250 welder restoration is almost complete! First picture is now, second picture is before. Oh my gosh it actually looks decent! Final tests and calibration coming today.
The repainted welder, seen from the front right, with the main cover still off but the front and back put on. It’s been cleaned and repainted and serviced, and is now on a rolling cart that I fabricated and painted the same red color. The welder as it was when I got it, after just a little bit of cleaning.

Playing around with different settings and trying aluminum TIG welding tonight. It’s very different feeling from TIG on steel!

Oh I am SO getting cancelled for this. There's a new site that lets you search old Usenet posts so of course I searched for myself and found this gem of a post about "The Lion King" from 1994. I have no memory of having this opinion. I have no memory of making this post. How does memory even work???
Grah! I'm glad *finally* someone (at least over here in alt.fan.furry,
I haven't followed the discussion elsewhere) has the guts to speak
up about TLK in a candid manner.

First off, I did *not* hate TLK. I had a thoroughly enjoyable time
watching it. I'd even go to see it again, just for the visuals and the
few 'gem' scenes (quickly though they passed!) if I could get a cheap
ticket. But I cannot stress enough that the experience was much the
same as I could have gotten from watching a saturday morning
cartoon (granted, a saturday morning cartoon with excellent animation,
but a saturday morning cartoon nonetheless...)

IMHO, this *is not a masterpiece*, and I honestly cannot understand how
anyone could possibly compare this film to any of Disney's "great"
works. I really do think "Drivel" is as accurate a word for the story
as any other. Thoroughly disappointing, thoroughly shoddy and poorly
thought out. And yet fun to watch anyway (go figure...)

I'm glad someone has some negative things to say about it (mainly because I'm getting sick of all the praise it's getting) even if I don't
agree with all of it.

Before and after rust treatment and red oxide primer on the inside of the 1980 Lincoln Idealarc 250. This is how they shipped them from the factory, same primer. Looking much nicer!
The interior of the welder before full rust treatment, showing lots of areas missing primer, areas of rust, and some bare metal The same view, but everything has been treated and covered in red oxide primer.

Current state of the welder restoration project: Exploded (on purpose). I plan to finish disassembly, cleaning, and rust removal tonight after work, and then coat the interior parts in red oxide primer. They came from the factory that way, it’ll provide years of rust protection.
The interior of the Lincoln Idealarc 250, seen from the front. The switches have been removed, and the transformers and amperage adjustment gear assembly are visible. The interior of the Lincoln Idealarc 250, seen from the back. Three huge power factor capacitors are visible, along with a cooling fan motor and heat sinks for selenium rectifiers.

Whipped up the model in FreeCAD, and if they actually fit I'll throw the STL up on Thingiverse or wherever people go to for 3D models these days.

I may regret it, but I found this old Lincoln Idealarc welder on marketplace for cheap and decided to bring it home to restore it. These are… heavy. 340 lbs. / 154 kg. I can’t believe I got it out of the back of my car. It came with welding leads too, which is part of the reason I picked it up.

I knew Washington's alcohol taxes were high, but I didn't know we were the HIGHEST. Wooo, $36.68 per gallon!

My latest fabrication project is a little angle grinder station. Now I have room for two more grinders so I don’t have to keep swapping out discs so often!
A wall mounted rack with ten pegs to hang angle grinder wheels on, and room for up to five angle grinders to hang from a bar.

There’s so much current going through the welding gun lead when welding that it causes metal shavings on the floor to align themselves along the magnetic field generated by it. Physics!
