The book by Richard Cytowic ( @neuromandc.bsky.social ) arrived yesterday and I’ve just read the preface, which it gives some clear hints: it’s going to be an interesting read.

Free will = Libero Arbìtrio Referee = àrbitro If a referee takes a bad decision we shout “arbitro cornuto”: horned=cuckold/despicable referee Just adding an “i” it goes from the recent soccer misdeed (àrbitro cornuto – despicable referee) to a broader "arbìtrio cornuto": despicable decision maker 👏🏻

I don’t give a heck about soccer, but this is not just soccer any more, isn’t it? I like this cartoon so much!

Spent two days in Rome (business trip). Got a lunch break with a twist. I never get tired of these views.

Just finished to read the book. I’m not “struck by [the fact that] the book does not mention consciousness” a quite rich and complex matter for an already dense book; rather I hope that it will be @romainbrette.bsky.social next big endeavour and his next book: I would like to read it soon.

🤩 Wow! This is kinda what I wanted to ask, but didn’t dare to! 🙏🏻 I’m happy that I did read some of those, and happier for so many suggestions. And I would like to add my VERY humble suggestion: Beyond The Brain by Louise Barrett
The book “Beyond The Brain” written by Louise Barrett

"a joke I make about the Turing test is that a new AI Turing test should be: just don’t say anything at all and see what the AI does"😏 AI has no intrinsic motivation to take initiative since it has not to “reverse locally entropy using as lil energy as possible”. Life is the basis of consciousness.

You've got mail. «By August 25th, or maybe October 20th, you have to pay a protection fee of 25%, but maybe even 50%, negotiable! Be careful! I know where you live and where your children go to school... Kiss my a**.»

😂 Concepts (and categories) can be dynamic, though, and that could cause confusion to step in.

In that case Trump has concept of a plan for occupying Kamchatka. For sure. 😒 Are we really just unarmed spectators of the slaughter some cruel estate agents are playing with our world? Is the world’s fate to be victim of those aged and oversized bullies?

Just a quick question: Any online streaming of the morning class? 😏 I’m not sure I will watch it though… 😳 I would add just a quote: “So far, nothing beats sex. Biologically, I mean.” ( @philipcball.bsky.social ) 😂😂😂

Some books more than others tear away the veil that mercifully covers the darkness, the vastness and the depth of what I do not know. This beautiful book is merciless 😫 and almost daunting 😬 Yet this is the way 🧠 💪🏻

I would call it… dense! Amazing and with an incredibly heavy specific weight. Like: the first 30 minutes took me one hour and a half for listening to. So many notes to take, so many references to look for in my past readings. Can’t thank you enough for the many diamonds (platinum, maybe?) you share.

Wow! It has landed in Italy! Now, since I felt compelled by its title to buy this book, have I been somehow determined to do that? Or did I exercised my free will by choosing according to my motivations? Dunno 😵‍💫 Help @wiringthebrain.bsky.social #neuroscience
