“If roughly 2.1 million people live in the Gaza Strip today, it's preferable for them to eat three meals a day, and GHF had been in operation for 56 days as of Monday, how many meals should it have distributed? A simple calculation produces the answer – 353 million.” – Distributed meals: 85 million

I’m far from justifying what MLP & Co. did. That’s illegal and it needs to be prosecute. That said, there is clearly an issue when it comes to the funding of operating costs of parties that score well in PR elections and badly in French FPTP elections and the relative overstaffing of MEPs.

Since then, international law has been weaponized by some UN entities such as the parts of HRC and some NGOs to disqualify Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state in the spirit of Res 181 and the Geneva Initiative, with an instrumentalization of the ‘right to return’ as an individual right. 4/
100
Till Burckhardt @tillja.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
The #GenevaInitiative, supported by the FDFA, implied that the ‘right to return’ in Res 194 could be renegotiated within a general settlement with the option for 1948 refugees to settle in a Palestinian State corresponding to the current oPt with some adjustments, but not in the State of Israel. 3/

That said, the objections on the fact that this mandate implies the ‘return’ of about 5,6m people to Israel within the Green Line (corresponding to a population growth of 60%) needs to be taken seriously by the FDFA and Swiss academia. 2/

The proposal of integrating #UNRWA into #UNHCR is a misunderstanding of the UNRWA’s unique mandate. Questioning the relevance of this mandate after almost 80 years makes sense, but the SVP motion came at the worst possible moment and with the worst possible approach. 1/

Somehow. The SPD lost much more votes to the CDU (mostly pragmatic Schröder-Merkel-Scholz-Merz swing voters), but also to the AfD and BSW. These are the kind of angry working class voters, that hate everything the Greens stand fotr. I doubt the Pippi Langstrumpf-isized Linke reaches out to them.

Till Burckhardt @tillja.bsky.social · 26/02/2025
… one can very hardly see them as a credible alternative for working class former SPD and PDS voters, who turned to AfD and BSW. The SPD should take its role as coalition partner to propose policies to meet those voters expectations.

That’s true. They managed to surf on the anti-right protest and profile themselves as the new hypish urban progressive party – and gather the former FFF kind of former green voters. That said, it’s still hard to understand what their policies are beyond playing the moral watchdog in the Bundestag.
