Alternate versions of Word and Excel are alright, and depending on what you're writing Scrivener or LaTeX has Word beat anyways. Honestly it feels like all word processing software has only got worse and spreadsheets haven't needed to change much since 2004.

A no copilot version of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint would be great though. LibreOffice is... fine for most things but it is really hard to exaggerate how bad the Powerpoint alternatives are for a lot of uses, equations specifically (which I use a lot of since I teach physics)

Today is the last day to register to vote here in Ohio so I check to make sure my family's registrations were up-to-date. They are! Also tomorrow is the first day of early voting in Ohio, so I'll likely be taking care of that as well, in person, at my county board of elections.

You can use google without the AI results by using the web tab. You can set it as your default search as well by using `https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14` as the search string in your browser search settings. Google will probably kill this eventually.

My computer decided to turn all of it's RGB lights on this morning. It's just a fast cycling rainbow pattern and they aren't responding to ASrock's crappy software that had let me disable them. They aren't responding to changing settings in the BIOS either. This is going to endlessly annoy me.

I recently read Limitarianism by Ingrid Robeyns. It discusses a lot of the mentality behind amassing wealth and also the negative societal and personal effects of having that much money (too much money cooks brain, basically). I'd definitely recommend it to folks.

Feel silly to still rank the people who flatly tell you they won't vote as likely voters, but I guess the pollster's method doesn't account for it so we have 1% in a weird spot.

Data from a survey. 51% of likely voters say they will vote D, 39% R, 3% other, 6% not sure, and 1% will not vote.

My employer hands out VP titles like candy. There's whole teams where they'll have a managing director and then the 5 people on the team are all VPs even though their job is just answering phones and filling out paperwork.
