Store model Kitty Carroll signing up to test an eccentric scientist's invisibility machine purely to mess with her awful ex-boss is peak 1940 cinema. Such a great screwball setup

Tom Tyler's Kharis doesn't get enough credit for establishing that slow, relentless, unstoppable walk that every movie mummy has been chasing ever since. Plus, bringing in Archard and the tana leaves just sets up the whole Universal lore perfectly

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Vincent Price is so good in The Invisible Man Returns. Playing a guy falsely accused of murder while those John Fulton effects still look incredible. Absolute classic Universal horror! 🎬🧪👻

Son of Frankenstein rules. Lugosi as Ygor is an all-timer, Rathbone is completely unhinged, and Karloff's last time as the monster still hits

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

This is actually the very first feature length werewolf movie ever made. Long before Lon Chaney Jr put on the makeup for The Wolf Man, Henry Hull was running around dealing with rare Tibetan flowers and lunar curses

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

It holds up so well. Karloff's performance is still heartbreaking and Jack Pierce's makeup work is just unbelievable. Total masterpiece

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

This film easily James Whale at his absolute peak. It takes everything that worked in the original and just dials up the camp, the tragedy, and the gorgeous gothic visuals to an eleven. Elsa Lanchester is iconic in the title role, but the monster and Pretorius dynamic steals the whole movie

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Claude Rains is unbelievable in this movie. You literally don't see his face for most of the runtime, but his voice acting is so completely unhinged and manic that he carries the whole movie. Plus, James Whale balancing genuine terror with pitch black comedy is just unbeatable

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Karloff is so damn good in the 1932 Mummy. He barely has to move or even raise his voice to completely own the room. Freund stepping behind the camera for this one makes total sense because that oppressive, hypnotic atmosphere is off the charts

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Hot take: The 1931 Spanish-language Dracula is legitimately better than the Lugosi one. Melford used the exact same sets at night and shot circles around the daytime crew. Tons of atmosphere, way better camera work, and López Morillas steals the show as Van Helsing

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Bela Lugosi setting the gold standard for movie monsters while Karoly Freund's camera floats through that dusty castle is still unmatched. "I never drink… wine." 🦇🖤

The only other collected editions I’m getting the rest of the year: DC Finest: Superman Man of Steel, Compact Comics: Crisis on Infinite Earths, & Batman Silver Age Omnibus Volume 2

Batman Bronze Age Omnibus came in the mail today about half hour ago! With that “period appropriate paper” it’s so damn light!!

Such a wild ride. Throwing out the standard formula for that crazy body hopping parasite stuff and just leaning into all the messy 90s gore makes it so fun to watch

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

I will die on the hill that Freddy's Dead is actually good. Sure, it's basically a feature length cartoon with 3D goggles, but the Looney Tunes logic, Alice Cooper on the title track, and the Johnny Depp PSA cameo make it a blast

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Dream Child is an absolute slog, but honestly, nobody's pretending we aren't just sitting through it for the super pregnancy body horror, that weird M.C. Escher staircase scene, and the wild comic book nightmare

This should be legally renamed "Jason Takes a Five-Day Cruise and Walks Past Four Blocks of Vancouver." Still love him, but that false advertising did a number on us!

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I love how Renny Harlin’s direction just leans so hard into that slick, hyper colored late 80s music video vibe. Alice’s evolution from the quiet girl into an absolute powerhouse final girl rules, and the practical effects are still top tier

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

It’s literally just Carrie vs. Jason and I love every second of it. Kane Hodder's debut as Voorhees with telekinetic smackdowns is unmatched

000

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Dream Warriors hits just as hard the 50th time as it did the first. The practical effects, the whole cast, and Dokken blasting over the credits... perfection

Jason Lives is so damn good. That opening graveyard lightning resurrection with the James Bond gun barrel parody? Amazing!

Kev 🩷💜💙 @tiberiusmulder.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

Elm Street 2 is such a weird, wild ride compared to the rest of the series. That pool party scene alone is iconic. Totally camp masterpiece

Honestly, the 1980 original is kind of boring in spots, but I still love it anyway. There's just something so nostalgic and fun about watching those camp counselors get picked off one by one 🏕️🔪

Nothing says "small government conservative" quite like spending $84,000 in taxpayer money to put giant editorial sticky notes outside the Smithsonian because a museum display hurt your feelings

The other is Archie #1 by Ben H. Winters, Fabio Moon, and Jason Wordie, from Archie Comics and Oni Press. Three short stories that feel new with vintage flavor, and only the third continues to the next issue. It even includes bonus material like a classic comic. A fantastic book for casual readers.

I've heard a lot of excuses before, but this one is really idiotic (or the dumbest way to say "we don't want to spend the money). 50 years ago, this was a fine enough premise to be the #1 show in the world. Disney has no clue what to do with these characters.

Fun fact: because it was made before the Hays Office started cracking down, this version leans hard into pre Code freedom with a bathtub scene and a moment where Sam actually strip searches Ruth
