Your mechanic is ripping you off then. I clear customs shipments and the additional duty for car parts is 25%. Even if there were other tariffs that applied (I can’t know w/o knowing the country of origin it wouldn’t be over 100% unless if they were under the steel/alum tariff & from Russia (200%)

I work for a custom broker and I used to handle export shipments. I saw an email earlier this week from a Chinese importer asking the U.S shipper to please offset their price due to their 125% tariff. I thought “Do they expect them to give it to them free AND pay them to take the goods?!?”

Before it was 10% duty instead of 25%. Also, customers could obtain an exclusion to pay 0% duty if they qualified, now they can’t do that either. They can only utilize an exclusion if it was already in place before this all started. Now, once any standing exclusions once exhausted that’s it!

Correct. I sent three invoices to one of my customers today and it was $425,000 in duties alone. This was for 19 containers of aluminum coils. It’s absurd, and that was just 25% in tariffs.

Was this shipped before February 4th? If so, a tariff exclusion applies so there would be no duty. DHL doesn’t know what they are doing a lot of the time (I have to deal with them clearing customs shipments).
