the birthrate discussion I think always circles around a core reality that nobody really wants to talk about, which is that - when living in a stable society that does not rely on your family needing more children for support - most people don’t want many kids and no incentives will change that

Today, Russia's military casualties (dead+wounded) in Ukraine surpassed the US's in WW2. My take: 1. Certain political systems are insensitive to the loss of lives. Don't become that. 2. Negotiating with Putin is useless because his war tolerance is extremely high. He needs to be defeated.
