Last week, we delivered three HyFive systems. 📦 One system went to Fehmarn in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 📦 and a second system went to Maasholm in Schleswig-Holstein. Both fishermen will be taking them out for the first time soon (probably next week) and will start measuring.

We are out at sea - the 846th cruise on the RV Solea is now underway. We are currently testing a new modular shrimp net in which the net material, the mesh size and the size of the overall net have been adapted to the current needs and wishes of the shrimp fishery. #sustainablefishing #science

After 2 years of trying out new entrances for flatfish traps the days of our experiment have come to an end. We used the sunny day to measure and deploy flatfish for our net cage experiments in Warnemünde. In the Stella2 project, we are also investigating fish trap entrances. We observe the fish 24/7 with infrared cameras to better understand their behaviour. thuenen.de/stella2

Today we picked up our pontoon trap in Poland. As we redesigned it to become more robust and user-friendly, the netting needed to be adjusted accordingly. Next stop: Baltic Sea for some pilot trials 😃
