Finally reached Era 2 in my current 60 Years game - Brazil opened up the solar system for a colonization wave by building a huge colony on Deimos, rents are so high on earth that effectively everyone is homeless, my faction has reconstructed neanderthals and I swear I didn't fudge the dice

Really not a fan of how popular fantasy has basically formed a gender-based subdivision where both taxons are dominated by elements I cannot stand.

At last, we're at the end of the Alien Watch-Along I don't think "worst movie I've seen" is a meaningful category but Covenant puts that to the test. The only positive is that the production crew folks got their paychecks. throneofsalt.blogspot.com/2026/09/alie...

Finished Halo 4 A game disappointing enough that it has put me right into fix-fic mode 1) It's 2636; Wreckage of In Amber Clad found by mixed human-alien salvage team from local independent colony 2) The UNSC fragmented after the War 3) Power vacuum on both sides filled by many parties

Started playing Halo 4 There is so, so much visual detail put into Chief, which makes Cortana look way worse in comparison and she already looks worse than she did in 3 or even 2. Her design changes every game, that's a given, but here it's pure uncanny valley.

Halo 3 ODST is, gameplay-wise, extremely good. Narratively, it's unbearable. Writing bad, characters bad, somehow manages to set an entire game in a city in Kenya that has exactly TWO characters actually from Kenya, who are both entirely offscreen.

Well, the root canal went well, and was less than I thought (misheard the price over the phone). Only a little bit sore 24 hrs later. Ebook is probably gone for good, though, no one's brought it back yet. Guess I'll go take the signs down and just buy a new one.

Started watching Apothecary Diaries. Maomao being an absolute gremlin woman is enjoyable enough, but the pacing is extremely tight. Every episode so far has been self-contained, and still all of them feel like they have three episodes worth of material effortlessly fit in.

Dandyman @throneofsalt.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Playing Halo 2 for the first time (somehow I skipped it for all these years) is just wall-to-wall "man, we used to make //video games//." Normally "things were better when I was a 12-15" is an illusion but it is genuinely nice to just have a game that's not bloated and or just gambling

I'm shocked. Astonished. Smeckledorfed. Who could have possibly predicted that Hollywood would do a collaborative creative commons project dirty. It's unheard of. Wholly unique. Never happened before. Breaking new ground. The cowards probably won't even include Josie the half-cat.

Name a non-LOTR character who could resist the One Ring I'm fairly certain that it's entirely possible to resist the Ring by being a big dumb meathead (affectionate) who never realizes what it's for. Like that's definitely in the Silmarillion (he said, not fact checking)
