I feel like a fundamental difference for this season is Erik Karlsson’s status. Last year, once the team was doing well, it made sense to keep him around. This year, EK either needs to be traded or extended. There’s no middle ground, since losing him for nothing is bad business.

No Kindel and no Lizotte is not going to do good things to the Penguins’ lineup. One big reason why last season worked when it worked is those two guys filling quality minutes with quality play and letting the old dudes absorb less beating and lesser matchups.

I know, it’s a prospect game. It’s still nice to see actual skilled prospects out there for the Penguins. They couldn’t finish for most of the game, which is a very Penguins thing to do, but so is stabbing the Blue Jackets in the nethers and stealing a win.
