good grief. he's also extremely intellectually dishonest translation: "I have built my house on sand and dare not give you a shovel" www.hnn.us/article/horo...
There are no such things, Wilson now claims, as “neutral facts.” “Believer and unbeliever alike,” must abandon all hope of finding “the pristine data.” Pastor Wilson thus urges us to regard “objectivity as a false God,” and declines to provide evidence for his positions on the grounds that it would be like pulling a thread from a “tightly knit sweater.” “One thing will always lead to another,” he explains, “and answering one objection will always lead to another objection.”

Basically this, again, but this time from a climate scientist (Niven's law strikes again)
Cartoon of a climate summit. The speaker lists all the ways climate action would make the world better: energy independence, preserve rainforests, sustainability, green jobs, liveable cities, clean water, air, healthy children, "etc. etc." An audience member objects: "What if it's a big hoax and we create a better world for nothing?"

The challenge for Greens is to convince the public that the cost of living crisis and the climate crisis are the same thing. The Iran war, awful and stupid as it is, could ironically turn out to be a great political boon for us in this regard as it pushes up the cost of fossil fuels.
One of the problems, according to [Luke] Tryl [executive director of the research group More in Common], is that the climate is not a “salient” issue for voters at present, ranking about eighth as a concern, below more pressing day-to-day issues such as the cost of living and health. That is a big slip compared to a few years ago, when the UK’s successful hosting of the Cop26 climate summit in Glasgow in 2021 drove more than half of the public to say the UK should meet its net zero target sooner than 2050, and the record-breaking summer of 2022, when UK temperatures for the first time topped 40C, ensured the climate stayed a top three concern.

So they previously had to put up with coal and now they have to put up with solar. How isn't this an improvement? I have no sympathy for such selfish sob stories. None at all. I have negative sympathy.
The countryside around the Lincolnshire market town of Gainsborough is a focal point for solar developers and their adversaries. It is set to be transformed by a cluster of four large-scale solar plants. The area is attractive because solar farms can easily plug into the National Grid at the site of the former Cottam coal power station, which operated here for half a century. One of the new plants being built in this area, Tillbridge, is the largest solar development to be granted planning permission so far. The project will cover approximately 1,400 hectares (3,460 acres), equivalent to 2,000 football pitches.

246 Removal of women from the criminal law related to abortion.

Summary: a woman procuring an abortion for her own pregnancy doesn't commit a crime.247 Provisions for pardons and criminal records of women prosecuted under
abortion law

Summary: Amends Policing and Crime Act 2017 to insert s. 165A to pardon women who were convicted of crimes in relation to abortions etc. that clause 246 makes legal.

What Zack has said on the issue is not party policy. Here is the actual policy relating to NATO, from the members' website. "Other security arrangements may be considered" but this does not necessarily mean leaving, and nothing is said of an EU agreement.
NATO

PSD317 The Green Party recognises that NATO has an important role in ensuring the ability of its member states to respond to threats to their security. The Green Party supports the principle of international solidarity, whereby nations support one another through mutual defence alliances and multilateral security frameworks.

PSD318 The Green Party supports the development of NATO’s dialogue with non-member countries with a view to ensuring that diplomacy and practical cooperation take precedence over military action.PSD319 The Green Party will seek the following reforms to NATO. Other security arrangements may be considered should such reforms become unattainable:

a. A commitment to a ‘No First Use’ nuclear weapons policy, while pursuing near term global nuclear disarmament, and fostering the same policies in non-NATO countries;
b. A greater focus on outreach and dialogue to support global peace-building, solidarity and connections, based on democratic and inclusive values;
c. A commitment to upholding human rights in all NATO’s actions and operations; although this should not be seen as a justification for unilateral military intervention;
d. An end to fixed minimum level of military spending by each member state to be replaced with a flexible level set by consensus that will reflect the current military and strategic landscapes;
e. A commitment to undertaking no out of area operations or military exercises, and to act solely in defence of member states;
f. A guarantee that abiding by International Treaties, Conventions and UN Resolutions shall always take precedence over other considerations in determining NATO’s actions;
g. A commitment to jointly discuss security concerns of third country neighbour states prior to extending NATO membership.

Text over a photo of Nigel Farage speaking in the House of Commons.

FARAGE'S RECORD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF

"We can judge Farage not just by the words he, allegedly, shouted as a child, but by the words and actions he has chosen to broadcast as an adult. Throughout his career, he has chosen to echo conspiracy theories through the language of the far right and antisemites. But will he ever take any responsibility for anything he says? I seriously doubt it."

David Lammy doesn't believe in his own party's manifesto.
Excerpt from Labour's 2024 manifesto (https://labour.org.uk/updates/stories/labour-party-health-policy-how-we-will-build-an-nhs-fit-for-the-future/):

How Labour will improve mental health

Labour will reform the NHS to ensure we give mental health the same attention and focus as physical health.Excerpt from the article linked above:

The same document also signalled the UK’s intent to move on article 3, saying that while people should never face torture, the legal interpretation of inhuman or degrading treatment “has been expanded over time”, allowing people to block deportations on the basis of arguments such as the fact they could not receive proper mental healthcare in their own country.

This right here is why billionaires are an intolerable blight on humanity and must be eradicated.
billionaires grew by $698bn in the past year. That money alone, the increment in the wealth of 10 people, is almost 10 times the annual amount required to end extreme poverty worldwide.

WaPo dehumanising, misrepresenting: you don't actually want to "stop the tens of thousands of illegal asylum seekers crossing the English Channel" since there's no such thing as an illegal asylum seeker. Rather "stop the tens of thousands of asylum seekers illegally crossing the English Channel".
The answer to this growing problem? Institute a wealth tax. To lower household bills: nationalize water companies. The hot-button topic of migration? Like the rest of the British political spectrum he wants to stop the tens of thousands of illegal asylum seekers crossing the English Channel every year, but advocates doing it with safe legal asylum routes instead of the military.

[header] Does legal professional privilege apply to communications relating to crime?

LPP does not cover communications that would enable a client to commit crime. This applies whether or not the lawyer is aware of the wrongdoing.

However, LPP does normally still apply to legal advice given after a crime has been committed.

(1) Information in respect of which a claim to legal professional privilege or, in Scotland, to confidentiality of communications could be maintained in legal proceedings is exempt information.

Left: Kent Police statement about the law Right: the actual law "Reasonable suspicion" is grounds for arrest. "May arouse reasonable suspicion" is weaker even than that, and certainly is not grounds for arrest. Neither of these is an offence. The spokesperson doesn't know the law.
A Kent police spokesperson said: “Under the Terrorism Act it is a criminal offence to carry or display items that may arouse reasonable suspicion that an individual is a member or supporter of a proscribed organisation such as Palestine Action.”12 Support.

(1) A person commits an offence if—

(a) he invites support for a proscribed organisation, and

(b) the support is not, or is not restricted to, the provision of money or other property (within the meaning of section 15).

(1A) A person commits an offence if the person—

(a) expresses an opinion or belief that is supportive of a proscribed organisation, and

(b) in doing so is reckless as to whether a person to whom the expression is directed will be encouraged to support a proscribed organisation.

Kent police's spokesman made a claim about the law that shows quite clearly he doesn't know it. Doing something which merely "arouses reasonable suspicion" (even supposing suspicion is reasonable here, which it plainly isn't) isn't an offence.
