Some new renders of an older project, Kylinxia as described in 2020 still with 5 eyes. Need to get back to Cambrian critters!

Finished a 1:10 scale 3d-printed diorama of two Khaan mckennais.

Photo of a 3d printed and painted diorama with two Khaan dinosaurs in the desert. One broods on a nest, the other one walks by.

A new render of the Archaeopteryx skeleton 3d model I created back in 2020 after the descriptions in Wellnhofer (2008) and Rauhut (2013). I used it primarily for 3D printing (see images in a following post), but I figured I should post renders of it, too.

Woohooo I got the Khaan models 3D printed by a service as I don't have a printer anymore - very happy how it turned out! Will start painting them next weekend!

Founders of modern paleontology, and their contributions to systemic racism, classism and sexism (🧵) Henry Osborn (1857–1935), responsible for naming of Tyrannosaurus & Velociraptor; president of ANHM. Co-founder of the American Eugenics Society. Contributing to books later praised by Hitler.

It's nothing I normally do, but as I got the model already - here is a skeletal diagram of Khaan based on my 3D model. #dinosaur #b3d #paleoart #paleontology

The first set of the scenes I did with the Khaan models, imagining how life in the Djadochta desert might have looked like. #paleoart #b3d #sciart #dinosaur

A female and male Khaan in the desert. The male shows off his display feathers, the female runs off. For now...

A jump in time. The female sits in the evening desert sun on a nest of eggs, looking into the distance.

What is happening? The female takes a closer look to what is happening in one of the eggs.

Some studio renders of the Khaan life reconstruction based on the skeleton model I did before. I added some display features to the male model, but kept the colours mostly muted for the desert-like Djadochta environment in which these animals lived.

The final animation of the Khaan mckennai 3d model. Khaan is an oviraptorid dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Mongolia. It is closely related to birds, as can be seen from its anatomy and behaviour. #paleoart #b3d #dinosaur #palaeoart #3danimation

Skeletons of oviraptorids have been found fossilised while brooding on nests, just like birds, and embryos in eggs have been found to take the same position before hatching as birds. I tried to visualise these finds here with this short clip.

A note on posts about the diversity of sex and sexuality across biodiversity: these posts are not legitimizing the existence of LGBTQ+ folks. They are celebrating the new appreciation for biodiversity that social progress has allowed. LGBTQ+ folks exist and need only exist to be legitimized.

Ok, starting this with a recently finished project - a Giraffatitan. The model is sculpted around a 3d scanned skeleton model of the Berlin mount. All done in blender.
