Brilliant mathematician Emmy Noether was initially barred from teaching at University of Göttingen because she was a woman. She taught for 4 years as a "guest lecturer" under David Hilbert's name. Hilbert, exasperated at the stupidity of the rule: "Gentlemen, this is not a bathing establishment."

Titan is the only moon in our solar system with a dense atmosphere, and the only world besides Earth known to have rivers, lakes and seas on its surface.
NASA's Dragonfly mission will investigate this extraordinary environment to help scientists better understand the chemistry that may have led to the origins of life.
Join us July 16 for a live look at the mission and hear how the spacecraft is preparing for launch.

#PPOD: In July 1994, 21 chunks of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, which had broken apart a year earlier, slammed into Jupiter. The Hubble telescope recorded this spectacular event. These images, beginning at the lower right, chronicle the results of one such collision. 🧪 🔭
Four images are stacked from lower right to upper left. These images chronicle the results of one collision of a comet fragment with Jupiter's cloudy surface. Hubble began snapping pictures of the impact area just five minutes after the collision. Nothing can be seen. Less than two hours later, a plume of dark debris is visible [bull's-eye pattern, image second from bottom]. Two impact sites are visible in the next picture, taken a few days later. The final snapshot shows three impact sites, the newest near the bull's-eye-shaped region.
