Quick tips for releasing game assets; 💡 • Pick a license, include it on your store page and in the files • Group multiple sprites or models together in a themed bundle • Create a sample image, showing what you can do with it • Make it engine agnostic, use open file formats

Make It Myself xkcd.com/3233/
Comic. [Person and person with white hat facing two boxes stacked with $80 price tag and sale tag on each box.] PERSON 1: They want $80 for this? I could make one myself for $10 in parts, an hour of work, a trip to the hardware store, another $30 in parts, another few hours of work, two more trips to the store for $20 more in parts, another hour of work to redo the first hour of work because I messed up, and $80 to buy this when the one I made breaks.

If asked to draw a person's portrait, many people would say “I cannot draw.” Why is observational drawing so hard? In a new paper, @judithfan.bsky.social and I answer: it's the limitations of human vision. Learning to draw is learning skills to overcome them. aaronhertzmann.com/2026/03/23/d... 1/

I always advise wanabee gamedev to prefer more generalist schools, university or even better engineering schools for devs or maybe producer roles. Then maybe a specialization in videogames.

Car Size xkcd.com/3167/
4-panel vertical comic. (1) 100 Years Ago [two people standing next to bicycle with small car nearby] PERSON 1: It’s too dangerous riding a bike with these cars around. I should get a car, too. (2) 50 Years Ago [two people between smaller car and bigger car] PERSON 2 with short hair: Small cars are less safe in collisions with larger vehicles, so I should get a bigger one. (3) Today [two people between big car and even bigger car] PERSON 1: Everyone has huge SUVs now. If I don’t get the biggest one, I’m putting my family at risk. today we fired up the old Xerox Alto (the earliest computer with a graphical OS) and dumped a disk pack that we hadn't imaged before.
portrait-mode monitor that is blank, but the cursor is in the shape of a heart symbol. below the monitor is a "keyboard garage" with a keyboard pulled out in front of it. it's got no numeric keypad and looks a lot like typewriter keys.front panel of a Xerox Alto with a Diablo disk drive. A disk pack is installed in the drive. there's a row of four light bulb indicators on the right side, and one of them is lit. Below the disk drive is a front panel grille with rows and columns of slots. the entire chassis rides on small wheels, one of which is visible on the right side. also on the right is a rack of extra disk packs, which are white and round and about a foot in diameter.
