We have been hard at work on ggvis2 but we will have to severely restrict access to it due to safety concerns. The visualisations are just too convincing

😍We were exceptionally lucky at Statistics Denmark to have @thomasp85.com giving a thorough {ggsql} intro, with a focus on motivation and the theoretical foundations 🗣: In the era of LLMs, READABILITY of the code is essential for humans; SQL tops here 🏆 🔗 slides: thomasp85.github.io/2026_ggsql_4...

BTW, I know that Blend2D already does pipeline optimisation through a JIT, which is partly why it can be so performant while still being pure CPU - you should read into that if this is your thing

One of my greatest joys of the #rstats language is that it comes with both a runif() and stopifnot() function

This looks great (haven't deep-dived yet), but also perhaps more for the Vello and Blend2D developers But I'll look through to see if there are things that apply to the higher level as well

You could argue that she's starting by defining an axiom and then uses that as a base for arguing about the mental fitness of certain people... But that is still very close to the bare assertion fallacy... On the flipside she never claimed to make a logical argument

That is to say, I suspect that PISA itself has partly been a cause of the decline (among many other factors), purely due to how the results have been used

I just saw how badly Denmark has fared... I remember when the first results came and how everyone in DK was up in arms that we scored in the middle, resulting in decades of flailing policies rather than a cohesive vision for education...

you may anticipate some updates to your plot builder since Vega-lite will be deprecated in the future and removed completely before the 1.0.0 release (whenever that is)

Thomas Lin Pedersen @thomasp85.com · 08/09/2026
Also visible is support for concepts that are unknown to Vega-Lite such as captions and minor ticks+gridlines

I've been hard at work on a new renderer for #ggsql to replace Vega-Lite and it is close to ready for primetime. Here, you can see it running in the browser, showing of a much improved layout model for faceted plots, along with native markdown rendering

Also added to development version of ggsql too 🫡 Try it out in interactive examples at ggsql.org/syntax/coord.... ``` VISUALISE continent AS fill FROM ggsql:world DRAW spatial PROJECT TO equal_earth ```
Map of the world with countries coloured by continent. The map has the Equal Earth projection.

yes, eventually - still some work to be done though VegaLite was a lift-off ramp but we outgrew it months ago and the constraints have annoyed us since
