Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Oh, am I riding high on that Valkyries win tonight. So happy for Ballhalla right now. 030
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Waiting for Other Mommy to reveal that it's secretly a sequel to Xavier Dolan's Mommy by pulling the frame back in midway through. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Not sure if I did the prompt right, but pretty sure Gerry doesn't evoke a lot of enthusiasm when you bring it up. I don't know. As someone who had family in Death Valley Junction, the feeling this captures makes me sometimes nostalgic for desert wandering. 000

Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 09/10/2026The Beach Boys' "Be True To Your School" is a dorky song, but I've tended to hear, "I got to letter my sweater with a letter on front," (supposed to be Letterman) as if the overlay was supposed to make him seem cool. 111

Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I still defend Girl in the Spider's Web. Not because it's the best, but because the Lagercrantz novel it's based on fumbled the ball so badly that adapting it into a serviceable action film is commendable. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Finally filling in the gaps of my Evil Dead list. Spending this October watching the new run, so I hope Fede Alvarez's take is better than his Alien one. 100
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 09/10/2026New Troye Sivan, Remi Wolf, AND Desplat's score for The Social Reckoning. Looks like another humdinger of a week for music. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Filled out my ballot tonight and found an odd detail on there that made me do a double take. I thought we weren't allow to talk about him anymore. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Carrie casting the gay priest from Somebody Somewhere is such an inspired choice. Happy to see him working. 010
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I did listen to "Ram" for the first time today, and that was charming as all get out. Might tackle PMII tomorrow. I don't know. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 07/10/2026You see, Paul McCartney might just be the best Beatle because of how much I've had "Temporary Secretary" stuck in my head this week, despite it only being Tuesday. 100

Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Getting hyped for the new Carrie this week by finally watching The Long Walk. Sounds just like The Running Man. Hope it won't be as slow. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Reading "Moby Dick" for the first time, and it's wild how much this structurally reminds me of "Gravity's Rainbow." Not so much in raunch, but just the passionate level with which everything is explored at the risk of streamlined entertainment. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Episode one, it's fine. About what you'd expect from a show glorifying chef culture and anime. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Fine, I'll watch the Anthony Bourdain [adult swim] show. Let's see how this goes. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 06/10/2026HP has always seemed weird because I was in the demo from book one (I was 9) and still lost interest by HP4. To repurpose their defense, Rowling "taught me to read"... and then I just read books I liked more. 110
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I support Tom Cruise taking risks. I don't, however, support the notion that he's the only provocateur who deserves this level of defense just because their movie bombed. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Tired of the Digger squad being like "You got to see it to support interesting cinema" while I'm like, "Bitch, please. Top Gun 2 kept so many small films out of theaters from months of overplay." Also, I do want to see original stuff. It's called History of Concrete. Put that in too many theaters. 100
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Since Social Network got a sequel, I'd say we give other 2010 movies one as well. Who's down for The King's Rebuttal? 000

Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Not sure how much competition there is, but Peter Weir's The Plumber definitely is one of the most enjoyably existential stories about how much we rely on restrooms to get us through the day. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Wonder if somebody's getting a phone call this weekend from the distant child of a mother watching TV who says she can't talk because, "Carrie on, my wayward son." 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I like the show just fine but I think it sometimes leans too far into set piece horror every episode. With that said, some extensions of the plot are fun if you're big into Stephen King. 010
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Sometimes you forget why you like sports and then you watch the Valkyries and Wings duke it out for three games until the last minute and you remember that basketball can be about the love of the game. Riding high tonight. 040
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 02/10/2026This movie's great. I like how the world is constructed in a sensible way and explores the premise to its full potential. Clever and odd in the best ways. 000

Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I should also say I am firmly in the camp that thinks biopics are never inherently factual. I care more about themes and aesthetics that convey their personal accomplishments, or a conversation between filmmaker and subject. It's why I love Tony so much. 000
Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Watched Chris Hansen's video where he goes to see Primetime and he seems to be a lot more levelheaded on the experience than I was led to believe. Lot more accepting of its subjective form. 100

Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Also realized the parents in the movie were Jim and Julie... Jules and Jim. Is Tom Green referencing the French New Wave? Sorry, I just watched a 40 minute video about how it's secretly a meta commentay on him not wanting to make a movie and wasting a million dollars. Real tinfoil hat right now. 010

Thomas M. Willett @thomasmwillett.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Watching Freddy Got Fingered and realizing that Tom Green's character is the same age in this as Ben Platt was when he made the movie version of Dear Evan Hansen. Not sure how it makes sense, but I think it's funny. 000
