How can a small, everyday practice in a classroom make a world of difference for a migrant child? I wrote about this for EERA, drawing from my PhD research. In a world often hostile to immigrants, these subtle shifts are vital to fostering a strong sense of #belonging.

Jean Charles de Menezes was killed by armed police in London in 2005, mistaken for a suicide bomber. The prejudice which led to that error persist, affecting Latin Americans and contributing to exclusion, unjustified arrests, & deportations ✍️ ‪ @thibogossian.bsky.social lab.org.uk/brazilians-i...

20 years ago, UK police mistook an unarmed Brazilian man for a suicide bomber and shot him dead. The structures that killed him still exist in indefinite detention, medical neglect, and re-traumatisation. Read the blog by @thibogossian.bsky.social ⤵️ blogs.law.ox.ac.uk/border-crimi...

I'm delighted to share that I've been awarded the 2024 Best ECR Paper Award at the @ecer-eera.bsky.social! My paper feels especially urgent as migration becomes increasingly politicised and migrant communities face hostile policies around the world.

A Rio Carnival parade will tell the story of a trans woman nearly burned at the stake
A Carnival parade in Rio de Janeiro will present the story of a trans woman nearly burned at the stake in the 16th century as a means to spotlight trans people’s struggle in Brazil, where more of them are reported killed than anywhere else.

With Leeds Trinity and Loughborough we're now actually at 83, or exactly half of the 166 universities @timeshighered.bsky.social counts. HALF OF OUR UNIVERSITIES ARE SHEDDING STAFF. In a normal timeline, politicians would care about this and try to do *something*, *anything*, right?
