Coming back to say that I’m so blessed to see this in my lifetime, a Black queer artist who is standing in both his Black and queerness. As someone who grew up in an environment where queerness was perceived as a “disease”, you have no idea what this means to me or young Black queer kids today.

When you really sit and think about it, it's nonsensical to get all bent out of shape over people who have sex with friends. We have sex with complete strangers we meet off apps, in bars, parties and never bat an eye but having sex with a person you already know and trust is crossing the line. LOL

One of the things I love about Blacksky is how they talk about this plainly. We don't really know what social media is capable of because we've always had to work around the whims of bigots who build platforms. What if we just go rid of them and built what we needed ourselves?

Another platform where Black folks and the sauce they bring are exploited, until they yet again become digital refugees fleeing from harassment and violence because of the lack of access to safety tools that prioritize them. Black folks deserve a culture of digital safety. It’s time for change.

Gender is directly connected to race and folks forget that all the time. In order to be considered a man or woman, you had to be human, meaning you had to be white. Black folks actually experienced an “ungendering” (Hortense Spillers) during slavery... 1/2
