This whole video is important but the first line is something I learned about 7-8 years ago at a program called “rethink masculinity” that I learned about via my friend @thezararaven.bsky.social. Masculinity is generally something, like whiteness honestly, that is formed in opposition.

a call to healthcare workers from “Health Fascism and the Anti-State State” in December: www.deathpanel.net/transcripts/...
Transcript Death Panel episode “Health Fascism and the Anti-State State” (December 22 2025):

“Second: we fight by recruiting defectors from inside the house. This is a call to healthcare workers: betray your training when your training demands cruelty. If it means someone gets what they need to live—betray your bosses, your licensing board, your EMR, your scope of practice. Care is not your credential, it’s your calling, your skills, your knowledge, your access, your obligation to your community. And sometimes that obligation will mean disobedience.

If we are to build the world we need, we need you on our side, not on the side of your administrator. We need you willing to take risks, not just for your reputation, but for the material survival of those around you. The struggle is already here and you can either enforce the harm or interrupt it. We need insurgent care. And we needed it yesterday. If you have access pass it on. If you have knowledge, share it, weaponize it. If you have creativity, run with it.”Transcript Death Panel episode “Health Fascism and the Anti-State State” (December 22 2025):

“This is where the real transformation begins. Not just in asking the system to care, but also in building the world we wished we lived in. A world where care is not determined by billing or zip code, or citizenship, or employment status, or formulary, or diagnosis codes. A world where no one is surplus. Where illness is not a source of shame or debt or punishment—but simply a part of life, and a part of being and feeling cared for.”

Abolish ICE is not enough. It's not about training -- Ross who killed Renee Good was a TRAINER. It's not about body cams -- we saw Alex Pretti killed with our own eyes. We have to abolish the idea that violence ever made us safer, before it's too late. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

It seems clear Alex Pretti, a healthcare worker, was murdered for engaging in the exact kind of community care we hope all care workers to embody: the kind that doesn’t stop at the threshold of the hospital, the clinic, but that aims to care for and support the community where and how they can

Thought about history/perspectives on BW being home/doing communal care work (compared to working for yts)…but during CRM “domestic workers became central to the movement’s success.” Care work is racialized and gendered, why some ppl downplay its role in movements vs. protest, hypervisible roles.
Newspaper clipping from The Greenville News
Greenville, South Carolina, 1918, reads: “Negro women to be put to work. City ordinance soon be passed requiring them to be regularly employed. Many complaints.”Article screencap “Domestic Workees and the Civil Rights Movement” by Ashley Everson in Black Perspectives published by AAIHS.

The CDC quietly scaled back a surveillance program for foodborne illnesses
As of July 1, a critical surveillance program is monitoring for only two pathogens instead of the usual eight.

so much of loving someone is accepting who they are, as they are. so much of loving myself then is determining how close you get to be to me, as you are.

last week, my friends and I watched Laverne Cox on Olay & Friends, and decided that instead of judging someone else for their romantic choices, we needed to reflect on our own. I wrote up some reflection questions for us, and we shared our experiences with each other.
ID: small green pieces of construction paper with handwritten questions

“Do you feel you’ve had to make compromises to access sex and romance because of identities you hold? how do the politics of desirability inform what you accept and what you pursue?

What experiences in your life have shaped how you understand romance? How have your experiences influenced your desire?

Do you think we can unlearn the ways oppressive beliefs seep into our desire? If so, how?

Have you ever dated someone whose politics radically differ from your own? What level of alignment do you need for closeness? What are your limits?

No one *expects* anything he says to be true. This is one of fascism's objectives—to make the truth irrelevant. His lies spin up a violent storyline that people either willingly inhabit or are trapped by. It's fiction with real-world consequences.

in this somatic attachment therapy course, dr. scott lyons repeats the phrase, "between stimulus and response is our freedom," and i love what it implies. how do we slow down enough to become aware of what's happening inside us and make conscious choices rather than acting from past wounds?
