If you LOVE granular processing and would like to beta test a new plugin for me, please DM for the links. I think Fractus is impressive for a first build. Your input would be appreciated!

This begs the question... Isn't ALL slop, human slop? MAGA is famous for blaming the "Guvament" but it is always people and their decisions cascading through a system. Ai Haters seem to externalize Ai Slop, as something Ai created badly, but it was always a human idea to generate the garbage.

The first plugin I made was an easy bar for DSP and coding. This second plugin was my attempt to fever-dream an intense DSP challenge... the chat history was weeks of planning, coding for 21 days now... but I think we made a plugin on par with corporate development. Fractus is powerful.

Memes are digital pollution created from Advertising Revenue capitalizing on how low effort content can drain your focus and be monetized. Regulate AI ... a great start is limiting digital garbage (Gen AI memes) used to harness your attention for advertising revenue. Stop engaging dumb stuff.

Am hopeful for a Digital Resistance movement that mirrors the Environmental Movement from the Industrial era. Social Media, Ai, and general digital systems need better regulation for the people and by the people. Corporate rule of our lives should end and return to Democracy. End Citizens United

from that all the way to Samply security... users with risks are going to start building local agentic hardware systems / pulling back from Cloud computing... I also see local social groups are on the rise!

Especially with the recent stink over prize winning Mathematics solutions being derived by corporate groups that were taking data from user accounts of Math professors....

The Vibe era is opening up a new level of insecurity on the Internet. Couple that with constant Gen Ai nonsense, and I see a return of Third Spaces in the Analog World... and local data with local computing tools (for those who can afford to build them right now).

For musicians, there's a lot of positive direction to unpack in this. "The industry" and "social media" are not the only musical existence. It's ok to just be a local musician in your own physical world. You don't need the industry or social media to enjoy your music. Be free from that grind.

You know what I think... If you're not happy with your guitar tone, you shouldn't start trying different guitars or buying amps or mics. Start by trying a different pick or move your fingerstyle position up toward the neck. You can probably find the tone by working on what you do first.

This was almost all done with Sonnet 5 but that was Claude's choice to balance our credit usage relative to the task. Apparently Claude was cocky enough to know that this was a simple project that didn't need Fable or Opus.

Expanding the mic cabinet this week... one of which is the Rode NT-SF1 (immersive capture mic). If you work in immersive formats... What sounds formats and channel counts do you want in sound effect libraries? Would you rather have the raw output or decoded formats like 5.1 or Quad or Ambisonic?

I empathize with this whole heartedly. Owning a recording studio (or any primary income business) is a similar burden. I've learned that the down swings are tough financially but important mentally. Those are healing periods between the crunch/grind phase. It's also the time I find new ideas.

TIL that you can listen to public radio channels through this website. I believe that all broadcasts like this are public domain and could be fun for sampling and sound designers. Are there any reasons this couldn't be used in media production? www.radioreference.com

It took a lot of digging... but I finally learned that USB2 devices should not be trusted on USB3 (xHCI) ports. This means that backward compatibility is more marketing than fact. This problem is especially risky for audio data streams. Did the tech deep dive in a blog post.

I've been dabbling for more than a decade... after a while, the technical stuff disappeared and it's just sandpainting and jazz, for me. Not saying you should try it... you definitely should not.... the cost is real (money and time). But it's not what it seems. Just another instrument tbh.

I had this guitar made for me in the 90s by Ernie, one of the guys that worked in the Lowden factory. It’s a friend’s son’s 18th today. He’s so into music and he fell in love with it, so today I’ll give it to him so it can have another life. Farewell old friend ♥️
A handmade electric guitar - 3/4 size, with a dark rosewood fretboard, and flamed maple top, 2 humbucker pickups, black hardware. It has a small E as the makers mark on the headstock.
