I’m not having a very productive day. Haven’t been able to move for the last hour.

18 more voter registrations today! That’s much better than my average for an afternoon at a college campus. There must be a lot of interest in this election. That brings my total to 185 for the year and 5138 as a lifetime total. The voter registration deadline is coming up next week on Oct 9. #ncpol

My Anita Earls for NC Supreme Court campaign buttons arrived today. Based on my order number only about 400 people before me have bought something from her campaign shop. That number sits with me because NC Supreme Court races in this state have often come down to about 400 votes. #ncpol

8 years ago today I ran the first ever voter reg table for Deacs Decide at WFU. I'm glad for all the organizations like Deacs Decide, YCV, Democracy NC, & LWV out there doing voter reg. I'm proud to have registered voters under all of those banners at different points & a few others too! #ncpol

My phone is showing me old photos from previous Septembers. Between campaigns, nonprofits, and doing my own thing, I’ve certainly worn a lot of voter engagement hats (& branded shirts!) over the years. #ncpol

Did some flyering on WFU’s campus today. Took a couple hours. Put up the local midterm early voting schedule. And put up some info about Reynolda House Museum’s upcoming civil rights photography exhibition. Students from all colleges get in free. The exhibition opens next week on the 17th! #ncpol

Just home from working the Drinks @ Dusk event at the museum. Hundreds turned out for our drinks, food trucks, crafts, & the museum scavenger hunt. The DJ closed out w/ some Dolly. I don’t know if it was that or the alcohol, but it got folks emotional & singing along at the end of the night!

Sunset on campus. It’s a nice place to get in steps over the summer when it’s less crowded. But we saw several students unpacking and moving in. Looks like the new academic year is about to start.

With the #Odyssey in the news lately, I thought it might be fun to highlight some of the art pieces at Reynolda House Museum that feel inspired by Ancient Greek and Roman times and myths. Like Kneeling Venus, Flight of Europa, etc. #classics #art

Oh hey, my photo won the local #NPR station’s photo of the week contest! After watching the #Odyssey in theaters and Troy: Fall of a City (a mini-series on #Netflix), I decided to stage this photo. I know they pick a photo every week so it’s not all that competitive but it’s still fun to get picked.

We got to visit the Obama Presidential Center while in Chicago! My 5th presidential library & museum. It was my 1st one where they let you take photos at the desk in the replica Oval Office. Another fun moment was seeing a copy of a I Can Register You To Vote button on display from my old job #ncpol

With Homer's epics in the news so much lately, I thought it would be a fun creative endeavor to do a photo of the Greek gods facing off on the sides they took in the Trojan War. Luckily, being married to a Classics professor means there’s always a copy of the #Iliad and the #Odyssey nearby!

I’m so used to seeing myth told as stories for kids, that seeing this live action treatment of monsters made it feel as much like a horror movie as an adventure one. I’m glad to have seen this on the big screen. No other screen might do the same justice to the Cyclops and other giants. #TheOdyssey
