Look, I'm almost certainly going to piss loads of people off. For the simple reason that I'm nobody's wingnut.

Andy Burnham's critics accuse him of still acting too much like a regional metropolitan Mayor. Whether or not that's true, it's still a step up from Kemi's 'martinet call-centre team leader' vibe...😬

My dad died in 2021 aged 94. He had been too young to fight in WW2. Almost as soon as he joined tank regiment training the war was over. So these numbskulls that claim to have ‘Fought A War To Stop This’ are LYING. They are too young! And never did. You now have to be 100 years old to qualify!

I think Fargle also said the same thing about Kent, to the same result. If these idiots are proving one thing, it's why serious professional politicians have come to exist. If they've proved two things, it's that twatwaffles like them should be kept far away from any actual governing power.

I don't want to rag on Nandy too much. But when the most even-handed thing one can say about her Cabinet career is 'equally as useless under Burnham as she was under Starmer', there's some legit problems. Maybe Burnham didn't reshuffle her because he forgot she existed, not for factional loyalty? 🤔

theviewfromorbit.bsky.social @theviewfromorbit.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
The sanctimonious BlueSky wanksocks who droned on about how Starmer was the greatest disappointment in the Labour Party clearly haven't heard of Lisa bloody Nandy. Which is hardly a shock, as she's been Missing In Action longer than Chuck Norris at DCMS 🤔😡

For the record, there used to be an urban legend about Piddington, Northants that claimed it was a hotbed of swinging. Still less socially awkward to explain than the antics of Piddington, East Oxfordshire.

If you get to a point in life where you can do anything and be confident of either avoiding or weathering any consequences for wrongdoing, it takes a very strong sense of moral integrity to refuse to capitalise on it. Lord Acton's maxim applies.

Jeremy bloody Corbyn and his wretched fanatics were and remain the closest equivalent to Ernst Thällmann that the UK has ever produced. Like Bismarck with General Boulanger, if he hadn't existed, the hard right would've had to invent him. They didn't even have to put him on the payroll. 🤷‍♂️

This why even calling Musk a 'tech bro', let alone any kind of genius, is utter bullshit. He is nothing but the nepo-baby to end all nepo-babies; the emptiest of empty vessels. And there's a 'lot' of blood staining that Apartheid-era emerald-mining family fortune.

The chances of that money *not* being either a) derived from the proceeds of crime and/or b) having begun its journey in the Kremlin's coffers are so small that the only responsible move would be for it to be siezed and held in escrow until its true origins can be determined.

25 years since the attacks on New York and Washington D.C. the US has now reached the stage where a significant number of people are defending a senile autocrat telling blatant lies about where he was and what he was doing on that day. I'll let a true celebrity icon of 9/11 respond for me...

I hope those who oppose Fascism realise that at some point, if political unity among the anti-Fascist movement is fractured, it may become necessary to butcher a sufficient number of the hopelessly brainwashed Fash pawns as the only means left to break them.

The BBC's News & Current Affairs Directorate is a cancerous tumour gnawing at the vitals of an otherwise esteemed organisation. It needs purging, root and branch. All the Murdoch, Rothermere and Barclay Bros. scions - out, gone. There's no saving it otherwise.

For a significant number of the noisier 'radical Left', the mantra is: - Stop (some) Wars - Oppose (some) Atrocities - Protect (some) Lives (Terms & conditions apply) Which plays into the hands of Fascists, TERFs and whoever else they claim to oppose (but are often secretly envious of).

This is racism, straight out of the Trump playbook. Reform are trying to turn our great country into a franchise of Trump's America. There are countless British patriots who came here from overseas, many of them refugees we proudly welcomed. That's the kind of country we are.

For someone purportedly keen on environmental issues, he's obviously not concerned about causing a chronic increase in smug levels in Central London. Mayor Khan might have to levy a ULEZ charge when he's on the hustings.

The lack of a properly evenly distributed social safety net is, I feel, a big factor in why churches have an inordinate amount of influence in US politics (along with the abject failure to properly enforce laws about preachers making political endorsements). 'Charity' should not = 'pork barrelling'.

And this is why I firmly believe that a plurality of journalists are craven, spineless bullshitters. They care more about their next meal ticket than anything approaching integrity. If they don't whistleblow - and they don't - then there's nothing about their profession worth defending.
