(1/2) I spoke with Mitch McConnell by phone today. The conversation was brief, but he mentioned the overcrowding and the heat. He said he was disappointed that he wouldn’t be returning to the Senate when it reconvenes, though he noted that he would be there in spirit.

I just now got off the phone with Allan Schappert, the author of this letter. He’s not on social media. When I shared how his letter has travelled, he said, “I’m gobsmacked.” He wrote to share his story, and perhaps to let other veterans know they’re not alone, and he’s amazed that he touched a nerve. “The pen is mightier than the sword!” exclaimed this pilot who once wielded the nuclear sword at the controls of an American B52. Whew. He thanks you, Peter, for sharing his words. Allan and I have plans to grab a beer together this weekend.

I finally caught my outside cat, Gypsy, and now,she is in the process of acclimating to life inside. Vet checked her out, and she is healthy!!! She is already showing signs of spoiledness. Next up slow integration with my two other imps.
