Always happy to see new mapping tools for R. David Willinger's **{cartographr}** is a welcome addition to the spatial visualization ecosystem. The more the merrier! cran.r-project.org/package=cart... #rspatial #rstats #Cartography #DataViz #GeoSpatial

Today I shipped a patch version of mirai 2.7.2 with as many changes as a full version! Lower dispatch overhead for `mirai_map()` and `everywhere()` and clearer errors + many edge case fixes. These automatically translate into wins if you use parallel purrr! mirai.r-lib.org #Rstats #Tidyverse

We're excited to share bluffbench2, a next-generation data science LLM evaluation. The eval measures how well models notice subtle data quality issues in plots. Even the most capable models today score in the mid-teens. opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-07...

TIL you can move the Activity Bar to the top of the sidebar. Great when working with laptops. Spotted from @hadley.nz setup in @posit.co Data Science Lab
Screenshot of the Positron IDE with the activity bar positioned horizontally at the top of the window, below the menu and toolbar, instead of the default vertical sidebar. Icons for Explorer, Search, Extensions, Source Control, Debug, and GitHub run left to right.

I started to have too many friends showing up to my weekly petanque sessions. Keeping up with the scores and brackets got wild. So I built a Shiny app for it: bbtheo-petanque-shiny.share.connect.posit.cloud. Multiplayer simultaneous writes via Google Sheets backend, hosted by @posit.co. #rstats

Just released mori 0.1.0 on CRAN — a new R package for shared memory across processes. Parallel R no longer has to mean duplicating your dataset in every worker's RAM. opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-04... 🧵 1/3

mori: Shared memory for R objects
mori is a new R package for sharing R objects across processes via OS-level shared memory. Parallel workers get zero-copy, lazy ALTREP access to the same physical pages — share once, read anywhere.

if anyone else has papers or projects that use rix, please let me know! in open source, people open issues to tell you when things don't work (which is fine) but sometimes, getting positive feedback is nice as well :D

#rstats Can the people complaining about R pipes not being "functional" enough please go hang out in the SQL forums? If any language needs help with ease of debugging and interpreting it's SQL. Thank you and please.

Agree completely. This is why I implemented glimpse style printing as the default for tbl_gpus in cuplyr

cuplyr version 0.1.0 is now out! A GPU-accelerated dplyr backend for R, powered by RAPIDS cuDF. Write familiar tidyverse code, execute on GPU. Lazy eval with AST optimization. In my benchmarks 60x faster than dplyr on 50M rows. github.com/bbtheo/cuplyr #rstats #cuda #DataScience
