It's fascinating to see the changes in one company's logo over the years.

A bunch of microsoft logos from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today but instead of saying Microsoft all of them spell Microslop in the vibe of the original logos.

Today's historic pic: An 860 class trailer car and a pair of Redhen diesel railcars with no 341 at left, depart Adelaide station, April 10 1985. I have featured Redhen railcars previously in this series, but not really their faithful companion 860 class carriages, so let's remedy that right now.

A side-on shot of a diesel suburban train departing the far side of an adjacent platform at a terminal station in a city location. The train, which is painted in an Indian red livery, is formed of two single-ended 300-class Redhen diesel railcars with a passenger carriage marshalled in between. Most of the sliding side-doors on the railcars and the carriage are open. In the lower foreground are a number of broad gauge tracks between the platform from which I took this photo and the adjacent platform. In the background, on high ground above the far side of the tracks are some medium-rise city buildings beneath a blue sky with one mid-century 4 or 5 storey commercial building with a large West End BEER neon ad on its roof, and at right is a Gothic revival style stone church with spire.

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is. It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.

Cold take: I think Mansfield and the surrounding area should be transformed into a medium-density city of 1-2 million with the rail link to Melbourne closed in 1978 reinstated, and a suburban heavy or light rail system to serve all the new suburbs that would develop in the area circled in yellow.

Useless infrastructure that hasn't been built part 1 of ? Richmond Junction Flyover; taking the Burnley local and Burnley through lines over the Caulfield through and Caulfield local lines, leading to the Burnley group using Flinders Street platforms 6-10 and Caulfield lines using platforms 1-4.

I strongly miss the warm lighting the Siemens trains used to have, it was quite comfortable, relaxing and excellent for if you wanted to have a nap on your journey.
