Just a heads up that there will be a new stream in a few days. The one I did recently was more of a test but both Manny @thetooneytenor.bsky.social and I are going to get serious with streaming more often on various animation topics.

New Review now live on the channel! The wonderful parody of Dragnet and Racket Squad (along with other police shows of the 1950s). This one is one of my favourites and I am glad to finally tackle this one in a review along with my good friend Manny Cruz @thetooneytenor.bsky.social !

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it. They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory. Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human. Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

A meme using the "distracted boyfriend" style format, modified for humor about Steely Dan collectors:

Top panel: A man (labeled "ME") is turning his head, looking excitedly at a woman walking past (labeled "NEW STEELY DAN UHQR REISSUE").
Bottom panel: Another man (labeled "MY BANK ACCOUNT") is stopping the first man, looking at him knowingly, as if preventing an impulse purchase.

This short has always been a favorite of mine from director Friz Freleng, and I had a blast recording with @aanimationtalk.bsky.social and talking about the music of this short, whether it was piano music of the Romantic period or 1920s jazz! Head to YouTube for the full commentary on his channel!

A recent addition to my “on repeat” playlist. My musical tastes lean heavily to the 1960s-1980s, but this song from 1984 has escaped my ears. 1984 IMO was a great year for pop music. Loving the synth work on this and of course George Michael’s vocals are great. RIP George. youtu.be/C8xt5BGegj8?...

I am grateful to be a working pro musician, but I would be lying if a part of me didn’t feel like the second mouse in this clip after all that singing I did these past two days. 😂 Merry Christmas to all who celebrate and to my fellow gigging musicians during this season: you earned your rest. Enjoy!

GAUCHO by Steely Dan came out 44 years ago today (11/21/1980). I’m trying to make my dog Nina a fan of their music. 😂

A small cream colored dog is sitting on a black couch with two Steely Dan records next to it.

November 15, 1994. 30 years ago today, I sang in public by myself for the first time, with my first music teacher, Mr. Walker (RIP) accompanying me on the piano. That was the beginning of my life as a musician. Still at it after all these years. 🎵
