Superman changing in a phone booth is iconic, but it didn't start in the comics! 🤯 The 1940s Fleischer animated shorts actually invented it as a quick fix to an animation story problem, and the comics adopted it shortly after. ☎️🦸‍♂️

In 1940, animation meant one thing: "funny animals" and rubber-hose gags. Mickey, Popeye, Betty Boop... comedy was king. 👑 But serious animation actually existed way back in 1918 with Winsor McCay!

The Flintstones underwent a quiet but massive transformation across its 6 seasons. 🦖📺 It started as a sharp, prime-time adult sitcom and gradually reshaped itself into a safer commercial profile for kids.

Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck had met before — but just once, briefly, as a gag. 🦆🐰 Rabbit Fire (1951) was the first time Chuck Jones and Michael Maltese actually built a whole cartoon around the two of them as a dedicated duo. That's where the rivalry we all know was really born.

Anthony’s Animation Talk @aanimationtalk.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Every director had their own version of Bugs Bunny. 🐰 Tex Avery's was an unbridled disruptor. Clampett's was a wild agitator. Freleng's was a cool theatrical winner. McKimson's was a childlike adventurer. Jones made him a cerebral intellectual who only fought back when provoked.

Rabbit Fire (1951) changed Looney Tunes forever! 🎬 This is the exact short where Chuck Jones perfected the legendary Bugs and Daffy rivalry.

Happy 75th Anniversary to "Rabbit Fire" (1951)! 75️⃣🔥 This was the historic first time Bugs, Daffy, and Elmer shared the screen, launching the iconic "Hunting Trilogy."

With budgets tightening, legendary director Friz Freleng had to get creative. He leaned into a "less is more" approach—relying heavily on off-screen action, Treg Brown's masterful sound effects, and static "aftermath" poses to imply violence cheaply but effectively.

In 1956,  "Stupor Duck" was released which was a direct, hilarious roast of the live-action Superman TV series. But the ultimate crossover? "The Honey-Mousers." Their parody of The Honeymooners was so incredibly accurate that the legendary Jackie Gleason  gave it his official stamp of approval!

On September 29, 1977, legendary animator Bob McKimson got a completely clean bill of health from his doctor. Feeling great, he went to lunch with his bosses. At the table, Bob was jokingly bragging about his health, telling the fellow animation veterans that he was going to outlive them both.

A brutal car crash in 1932 should have ended Bob McKimson’s career. Instead, the severe concussion rewired his brain, leaving the already brilliant master draftsman with a photographic memory and turning him into an absolute machine.

Fascinating animation quirk in McKimson’s ‘Wideo Wabbit’ (1956): The TV producer's jacket features a static pattern that stays flat against the background rather than moving with his body geometry. A brilliant budgetary shortcut that gives the character a surreal, modern-art feel. 🎨📺
