As we enter a new quarter, time for an update on games industry layoffs. As you can see here we're well past 50k people known to be impacted since 2020 in over 800 incidents. with 3 months to go, 2026 could end as the worst year on record. 55% of known layoff waves in 2026 have unknown headcounts.

Leaving reviews for games you've enjoyed is incredibly helpful for indie games. Don't forget that is also true for demos. If the demo has its own store page, leaving your thoughts helps with the algorithm and provides general feedback for devs on their journey to launch.

One thing I enjoy about books like The Lord of the Rings and Dragonlance series is that the male characters are unashamed to cry, show love and embrace one another. It's so wholesome. Amazing that a multitude of empathetic scenes exist in books (stereotypically thought as for boys) from while ago.
