I wonder if the quarterly "Major Updates" imply minor updates as well. I assume those would be bug fixes, class tweaks, and the like.

Not to mention, best case is we get single payer in 3-4 years (probably longer). I don't think you want to wait that long to find a pharmacy/doctor.

As someone who's old and recently retired, I heartily endorse this.

Because it's the kind of thing that sounds REALLY COOL if you're about 12, which is the mental age of most of the regime.

Michael Harrington's "The Faithful Executioner" discusses one executioner's successful attempt to restore his family's honor after retiring from the job. It's an interesting if occasional gruesome look into early modern Germany.

A lot of executioners had a profitable side hustle as doctors since they had to fix people up after they were tortured and before they were executed.

The throne of the Two Sicilies. The House of Savoy, who kicked the Bourbons out of Naples, are the pretenders to the Italian throne. Italian unification was a bit messy.

The Taylor Farms Cyclospora outbreak was, and IS, still a huge mess. Both due to the sheer size of the outbreak, and because of TF did a historically bad job handling the PR around it. But it's also really the only out-of-the-ordinary outbreak we've had so far this year. (So far. Ha. Hahaha)

That the GOP still believes this is the best explanation for things like the SAVE act. But most voter suppression efforts only tinker around the margins - enough to swing close races, but not sufficient in a year like this.

Theryl @theryl.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
What am I missing here? How does this benefit the GOP? My guess is that they believe their own propaganda and think only Dems vote by mail when this will probably affect GOP voters at least as much.

This is a triggering image of a museum display in the natural history museum in DC about life before smartphones. Me and a fellow 40+ person were laughing at how we are now LITERAL MUSEUM PIECES. MY teen was like did you have a clear phone? An address book? A book of maps. Yes, yes I did. 🫠🫠🫠

I think it's probably a more urban North and a more rural South because the split really does seem to run along the Mason-Dixon/Ohio River line. I'm going to have to find a history of US local government and do some reading.

Theryl @theryl.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
Here in VA (and most of the South, iirc) the county is the main unit of local government in rural (and not so rural) areas with towns providing some extra services. Cities in VA are completely independent of counties.

I've had to unfriend a few fans lately, all for the same reason. They made ridiculing, unkind, and in some cases outright cruel comments about pictures I posted of young women cosplaying Jessica.
More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-. There is no such thing as a Jessica cosplayer being too short, too flat chested, too heavy, too thin, too unattractive, too black, too Asian, or even too male!!! All Jessica, any Jessica, every Jessica is good Jessica.
I'm not giving any warnings or second chances. A single disparaging comment on a Jessica cosplayer, and I'm throwing you out of the rainbow colored Toontown Tent.

I'm sorry, if you can't look at Biden's economic policy in a vacuum and say "this was good and it pissed off the rich and that's why Elon spent 44 billion dollars on Twitter and specifically drove Gaza as a wedge issue and FUCKING BRIBED PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR TRUMP" you're completely owned by Capital.

I like to revisit it every year because of the way Haskell uses his words to paint a vivid picture for the reader

There was a reason state legislatures gave up their power to elect senators, part of it was public pressure, but a lot of it was that it was a massive PITA with little political upside.

I think it's more a case of being opposed to it for anyone not carefully chosen and vetted. You need to study "dark" magic in case you have to face it, but you don't want any random magister getting their hands on it.

Is there any information that this will hurt democratic leaning voters more than GOP leaning ones? Everyone seems to take this as self evident, but it seems like this would disadvantage rural voters more than urban ones and married women more than unmarried.

The same thing applies to domestic opposition. It doesn't look like they anticipated the resistance in MN or the Democrats counter-gerrymandering or the pushback they're getting on Iran. They can't conceive of other people having agency.
