The tv series ALF was cancelled after the season finale cliffhanger. The US Air Force captured him. We don't know what happened, but a scene from one of the 1st seasons an Air Force officer states that they're going to perform terrible experiments then dissect the alien if they find it.

There are so many amazing bird photographers on Bluesky so here's a Cooper's Hawk (maybe) that I saw over the weekend. I whipped my phone out so fast and set the digital zoom to maximum potato quality so the world can see what it looks like when a normal person with an iPhone takes bird photos.

Hit that point in unemployment where I've spent the last who knows how many hours of my waking life last night and today carefully crafting an Edward Tufte principled document template in Apple Pages. (Body txt filler is Tufte design AI copy-pasta because that seemed more fun than Lorem ipsum)

A cover page designed in the Tufte style with the title "Edward Tufte and the Principles of Analytical Design" followed by the subtitle "Understanding the philosophy behind effective information presentation". The page is formatted so that the title and subheading have substantial whitespace separating it from the introductory paragraph. The body of the document is no more than 70 or so characters wide and the right margin is sized to allow for unobtrusive sidenotes for citations or additional comments on the text. The first paragraph of each section is not indented because headings indicate that it is a new paragraph. Subsequent paragraphs within the section are indented. This is characteristic of Tufte's economy of design. An example sidetone to the heading THE DATA-INK RATIO on reads: data-ink ratio = data-ink / total ink used in graphic

An inline table of average temperatures of different three cities demonstrates Tufte's simple data presentation. There are no purposeless or confusing ornamentation or vertical or horizontal lines within the table body. Simple horizontal lines define the header and the end of the table. A simple table caption is at the bottom explaining the table without over-complicating it. Textual elements are left aligned. Number elements (data) are right aligned. The caption reads, "Table 1. Average temperatures and precipitation by season in selected US Cities (2024).

Additionally, an integrated graphic with the text is in the sidebar shows how to present graphics without interrupting the reader. A citation is also presented in the sidebar.

A full width graphic is illustrated. It is six different line charts of six different product's revenues over a period of time displayed in two rows of three charts. By breaking the data into six different charts it presents what would be a cluttered line chart with six easy to read, understand, and skim points of data that are easy to compare and analyze. Two additional sidenotes are present throughout the page. These sidenotes provide some parenthetical comments to the body text without interrupting the narrative. They are placed in close approximation to the relevant text.

A bibliography page that uses the simplified Chicago Author-Date format. It explains how to use this simple but well respected bibliography format with Tufte's sidenotes for maximum clarity and utility with minimal interruption.
