The problem with Starmer bragging about how well they're managing the NHS, is that I work in the one of the largest hospitals in the UK and over the past year, there has been an acceleration in service cuts, standards of care are worsening, and we're now making staff redundant. Great... #PMQs

This letter from the Chair of Leeds for Europe appeared in The Yorkshire Post on 2 January 2025. It cites research proving the vast majority of the British public - regardless of whether they voted ‘Remain’ or ‘Leave’ in the 2016 EU referendum - would like to see the UK regain European Single Market and Customs Union access. Restoration of Freedom of Movement is no hindrance. The research quoted was carried out by the European Council on Foreign Relations.
