Post shows an image of an unfinished painting that depicts a blank MS Paint window set on top of colorful squiggle shapes. Text overlaid the image reads: The work continues! Less than 2 months and counting. I've been so busy. I think it's safe to say that I've underestimated just how much time things take to make. -- umber.substack.com

#PortfolioDay I'm Umber, a queer fine artist/illustrator mostly making fantasy, and portraiture. I'm currently developing my first gallery show! Through it I highlight my family's relationship with creativity & tech & explore my critical opinion of the tech industry. umbertheprussianblue.com

An oil painting depicting a chimpanzee with bared fangs. It's wearing stupid sunglasses, a popped rim ball cap, gold caps on its teeth, and is wearing a heavy gold chain necklace. The painting is rendered messily in bright pinks and blues.

Illustration of a man with a sly expression and grey hair. He has one white eye, and is holding a ripe persimmon. The image is framed entirely in flower stamps, rainbows, dappled light, and sparklies.

$Art show flyer. It reads: A:\>format free art show. A family group show exploring the intersection between art, technology, web revival, nostalgia, and modern internet cynicism. Art by Umber the Prussian Blue, Angelo and Pam Keene, and with support from Auston Kleczka. Opening september 5th and closing september 12th at subspace. 480 N. Perry Ave. The flyer uses Windows XP styled window boxes for the text, word art, and features clippy$

Dragon Age fan art illustration of the lich-making ritual. A body lies in repose on a table at the center, and is depicted as half exposed musculature, and half skeleton. On one side, Myrna is holding the skeletal arm, and placing gold jewelry on it. On the other side, Vorgoth is holding his ritual knife and preparing to make a cut. At the head of the table is a heavily adorned spirit overseeing the procedure.

I'm barely keeping up with my socials, forgive meee. The last of this series of character studies! SO so happy with how all of these turned out. This was a wonderful exercise :) TW for blood. #commissions #portrait

portrait of a bare chested man spattered with blood. His hair is wild, and his monocle has cracked and gone flying.

Oooh I gotta know what you think about my boy, Cyril!

Portrait of a man with messy, long, blue hair mixed with equally blue feathers. He has a tired expression, and his left eye is radiating white/fuchsia energy that snakes across his face.

010

Umber | Commissions Paused @theprussianblue.bsky.social · 19/06/2026

3 & 3.5/4 are probably my favorites of the series. The concept was goofy - my client wanted to make something like an overly sparkly picmix image, and it...aaah...turned out a bit more "Garden of Eden" than corny yaoi romance. So we gave the man a fruit. #commissions #portrait

The same image, but instead of a fruit he's holding a molten piece of metal. Also his white eye is glowing with a soft white light.

Umber | Commissions Paused @theprussianblue.bsky.social · 15/06/2026

Number 2/4~! This was, I think my least favorite of the bunch - but I still like how the textures came out. :) #commissions #portrait

Illustration of a man, half undressed in a smoking robe. He's holding a long cigarette holder, and is running a hand through his hair with an incredulous look

Umber | Commissions Paused @theprussianblue.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

Ok, catch up time hahah. At the end of last year I took on a commissioned series of portraits of a character, one that I've painted once before a few years ago! This was 1/4 - and was already a huge improvement from the first iteration in 2024. #commissions #portrait

illustrated portrait of a man with teal/grey hair and a piercing gaze. His shirt is open revealing two significant scars and a hairy chest. He holds one hand over his eye, which is shielded by a now broken monocle.

An illustrated portrait of the same man, in a more rudimentary comic style. He's adjusting his monocle and has a confused/inquisitive expression.

A tarot-ish styled illustration depicting Johanna Hezenkoss from Dragon Age: The Veilguard. At the top of the illustration, she appears as her young self depicted from the waist-up flanked by a graphic representation of her fashionable goggles and backed by the symbol that appears on the Nevarran crest. In reverse at the bottom of the illustration she appears as she does in game, however, she is in contrast backed by the crest and eye sockets of her bone colossus. At the center of the illustration, both figures are holding the gloaming lantern which crackles with green and deep purple energy.

Illustration depicts an embalming performed by Myrna and Vorgoth under the supervision of a spirit wearing a large, jeweled headdress. The body on the embalming table is shrouded in cloth that wraps around its face, across its shoulder, and around its hips (dignity matters). Half of the body is shown as cleaned bones, which Myrna is lovingly adorning with gold jewelry. The other half is shown as musculature. Vorgoth has his left hand resting on the abdomen, and has his ceremonial knife raised in his right. There's a green light that is glowing from within the rib cage of the embalmed, that can also be seen in the eyes, shining through the shroud. The figures are lit by an auditorium of large candles that encircle them. Canopic jars dot the ground beneath the table - which has beetle-like legs and horned appendages.

Recently completed commission! Two beautiful boys floating through space - causing trouble I'm sure ;) #commission #art #illustration

Vertical image depicts two men oriented at the top and bottom in reverse, reaching out to each other at the center (if that makes sense). They're sharing a tender moment, grasping each other gently by the hair/back of head in a near-kiss. The man shown at the top of the image is wearing a greco-style toga with a golden clasp, gold sprig of leaves behind his ear, and arm wraps. He has glowing blue eyes and glowing lightning marks that travel from the corners of his eyes and down his arm. He's painted in pale ivory, green, and purple tones. Inverse, the other man has long dark hair, dark eyes, and a beard. He has a scar over his eye and is wearing a purple/magenta tight dress shirt, buttons undone down the chest. They're painted on a backdrop of stars, with a radiant design faintly placed in the background.

The same as before, but with a slightly different light source

Back to the zombies - I decided to take a bit of a break with the background painting so I could work on one of my other concepts. Really happy with how this one turned out! Skin textures were def a proof of concept that I'll be taking back to the first one. #zombie #conceptart #creaturedesign

Image depicts a heavily scarred zombie aberration. It's pale, with intense strictures, boils, and a flayed back that resembles wings. The center of its torso is cracked open in a radiant void. Light pours from its eyes, mouth, chest, and from its open back. Bottom of the image is signed "Umber the Prussian Blue"

commission for @adomania.bsky.social, their character Laz! i fell in love with his design, thank you for trusting me with him 🤍🤎💙 #art

a hips-up digital portrait of a faun character. he has light skin and short reddish-brown wavy hair with prominent white streaks on the left side. the fur on his thighs and hips is a similar shade of brown, and so are the filigree tattoos on his arms, the backs of his hands and neck. he has long horns that curve out from the top of his head and then back towards his chin; the top part is brown with thin carvings, while the bottom is dark blue and reminiscent of a starry sky. he is wearing an elaborate and well-fitted white outfit with golden trims and detailing, the lining of his wide split sleeves featuring the same starry sky as his horns. he is standing confidently, holding four cards in his right hand by his hip, and a fifth in his left, delicately pinching it between his index and middle fingers and covering his left eye with it. the backs of the cards are burgundy in color and feature a golden eye-like design. the background behind the character also features eyes, stylized and simple, one of them framing his head like a halo.

another commission for @adomania.bsky.social, their wonderful faun Lazarus! thank you for the opportunity to draw this boy again ✨ #art

shoulders-up digital painting of a young-looking faun, watching the viewer from behind his hands. he has light skin that fades into a tawny gradient on his forehead, shoulder-length wavy auburn and white hair with the color split down the middle, and large ram's horns that curl out and then in towards his chin. the top side of the horns is brown, with filigree carvings in it, while the bottom side is dark blue like a starry sky. the horns are shattered in a few places, the shards held in place close to each other as if by magic. the faun's eyes have dark sclera, blue irises and bright gold pupils; so does the third eye in the middle of his forehead, embedded into the bone with a few dark cracks around it spreading down the faun's face. all three eyes are looking at the viewer with an intense expression from behind the gracefully held long-clawed fingers, the faun's lips in a slight smile.
the painting is done in a semi-realistic style, with the color scheme that is almost iridescent.

Omg 👀❤️ Gallus is so sexually oblivious it would probably take intense flirting for him to figure it out lol. He often relies on false confidence to talk his way around conflict - so I can def see Gallus warming up to Darius. He'd also deny up and down that he's not attracted to him (lieees)

010

Umber | Commissions Paused @theprussianblue.bsky.social · 08/05/2025

He'd def gravitate to Drex! I don't think Gallus meets other drow he can relate to very often haha. I think, yeah, he'd be intimidated by Rana - but curious. He'd try to mask his unease with intentional cool-guy friendliness because the big scary is better on your side than not 🤣

#TavQOTD Share your tavs/durges and let people say if they’d romance / befriend them if they were a companion! Gallus is a trans-masc Menzoberranzan escapee (fugitive?). He's clever, sarcastic, and overly observant of everything except for his own two feet. Actually very shy and easily spooked.

BG3 screencap featuring Gallus, with Karlach and Lae'zel in the background. He's wearing a fancy black overcoat with gold details.

Gallus in his armor - bright red hat, royal blue robes with gold trim, staff. He has his arms crossed and is rolling his eyes.

The boy - Gallus. He has dark drow skin, white hair pulled in a half pony. His ears are pierced, wears heavy black eye makeup, and has the beholder neck tattoo. He has a wide burn scar on half of his face.
