Going to look at upping the number of butts attached to the outbuildings as well, but that then creates a problem of how to get the water to where it’s wanted…. 4/4

We were using 250 litres a week on the veg during the drought – so 12 weeks x 250 equals 3000 litres. We need to put enough water collectors to make this amount, about 8 of these. That is a space issue. 3/4

We get about 700mm of rain each year, which per metre/sq will produce about .85 litres a mm of rain – so 700mm equates to 595 litres. The top of the butt is about 1 metre/sq so this should fill. Should. Overnight rain has been caught in a decent rate. 2/4

We had 12 weeks of drought this summer, so we are looking to increase our rainwater collection this winter. One way is this – a collapsible water butt holding 380 litres. It’s in the veg patch with no gutter pipe attached, I’m hoping the opening will collect enough water for next summer. 1/4

Building the new work platform - many more opportunities to fall from a great height when cutting trees/hedges/ roofs around the place. My last, shorter one, gave up the ghost with me climbing up - ended on the floor with it on top smashed against an electric fence - fortunately only bruises!

Got these rules the other day and played them today - really impressed. Easy to read, easy to learn, gave a great game full of decision making, done in a session. I'd recommend.

The squirrels have taken all the cobnuts and all the walnuts, all ready weeks and weeks earlier than normal - can they actually leave use with some chestnuts?

This goblin was printed on my 4 colour centauri carbon 2 - he weighs a gram, the poop, created at every colour change on each layer, weighs 120+ grams. Lesson: Multi nozzle printers are a must for colour printing! Abit of dry brushing made him table ready.

Anyways, picked up this stl free off the net, a CoC2 dashboard with markers - coloured it up in the slicer and printed it - waiting delivery of some black filament to do the axis one.

This years Cob Nut harvest - out of three bushes. These should not be ready until late August/September; not eaten by squirrels before the end of July. I can't keep up with this climate.

And I would agree with that - we use cars

The Piglit @thepiglit.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
And my point is most working class in rural areas drive cars, such is the paucity of bus services
100
The Piglit @thepiglit.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
He's right to a point- there are very few bus services in rural areas - those that are benerally impraxcticable - so in rural areas the priority is car (you have a car to get a job in rural areas)- or (if lucky) train. The £2 fare is good - but probably not as universally wondeful as first thought.
