It’s been over a century since Jack Daugherty made a deal with a demon in exchange for his soul.

He’s been dead for nearly as long, struck down to Hell as little better than an errand boy for his master, a powerful fallen angel.

Jack can’t pretend that he actually likes things the way that they are, but it’s better than the alternative. His deal was worth it – no matter what it cost him.

After all, if he keeps his head down and does what he’s told, things can’t get worse. Or so Jack tells himself.

When a new soul arrives in Hell, bound to serve the same demon that holds Jack’s deal, he’s given simple orders. Show the new guy around and make sure he understands how things work.

But Vincent Hodges is like no one Jack has ever known. When he begins to rebel, insisting that his deal can be broken, Jack should walk away.

He never has done what was best for him.

Going through my backlog of story ideas today and I found this little snippet tucked away in my files. It’s just aching to be expanded, but the last thing I need right now is another WIP. Oh well. I’ll get there eventually.

Untitled Dark Academia Cult Fic

Blindfolded, arms bound high behind his back, Elias stumbles on the roughly hewn stone floor. A gentle hand catches his upper arm before he can fall, and he tries to murmur his thanks. Of course, the gag in his mouth prevents anything but a whimper.
He hears his savior chuckle lowly as he lets go of Elias, patting him gently on the shoulder. He doesn’t speak, but that’s all right.
Elias doesn’t mind.

But they aren’t alone for long.

Krampus soon arrives, drawn to their presence by Noel’s guilt. He’ll punish the brothers for their sins — and bring them closer together than ever.

The photographer sat in a dark SUV, the engine off, his hood pulled down over his head. He lowered the camera, glancing briefly at the screen before setting it down on the gray passenger seat. He mentally went over the file that lay next to the camera. Adrien Howell, twenty-two. Student at Wayne State University, majoring in Social Work with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. Barista at a small chain coffee shop. Regular at the Detroit Public Library.

And the subject of his fascination.
