Who knows if relevant here but it's intriguing to be moving towards a world where all customers of each AI firm are co-opted into a hive mind

Astra implemented a feature I'd been wanting in gensplore.genomium.org for a while but hadn't managed with previous LLMs - overlaying a sequence onto its reference. The button isn't very obvious, so as an experiment I also asked it to make an (admittedly annoying and slop-py) video walkthrough

Donating some blood. Quick and easy – you should too, especially if you never have: you might find you have particularly useful blood

Pathoplexus then automatically pulls in that citation from CrossRef, and applies it to every sequence you have cited. So now, sequences have a "Cited in" section that lists all the publications that have made use of them. [6/n]

SeqSets are our solution to this. When you cite data from Pathoplexus in a paper you should create a SeqSet, a list of the sequences you used, and mint a DOI for it. You then cite that in your references. [5/n]

Was surprised how sweet this supermarket iced coffee with zero added sugar or sweeteners was. Turns out they just add lactase to break the lactose into sweeter sugars 🤔

Mattocks! Today I learnt that most of the process of digging a hole shouldn't be done with a spade but with a mattock, which is dramatically more effective

Mechanism to cause a laser pointer to draw "HELLO" on the wall. A few issues with collisions and flipped text - but looks pretty reasonable to me.
