I don't think so, sports betting is a plague in France as well, with the same argument of "it makes the games more exciting" and the same result of impoverishing poor people. A lot of players are also promoting it here, with thankfully some (like Mbappe) refusing for religious or ethical reasons.

One of the reasons I think this went viral even in queer circles is because everyone has seen this dynamic play out in some form in our spaces. We need a better way to root out toxic people utilizing the language of liberation in narcissistic and sociopathic ways to dominate spaces.
