We're just one week away from the release of REMONSTERED! THE MONSTERS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING! There's still time to pre-order your copy and receive it on release day, Oct. 6! www.spyandowl.com/re...
The cover of REMONSTERED! THE MONSTERS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING: Five adventurers—a dragonborn paladin, a forest gnome barbarian, an orc druid, a tiefling bard and a goliath sorcerer—are fighting a rakshasa in the richly appointed office of a royal adviser. On the rear wall is a portrait of a handsome, mustachioed human who wears the exact same robes of honor as the rakshasa. The rakshasa is savagely tearing into the paladin's throat with its claws. The look on the paladin's face is of someone unexpectedly confronting his own mortality. The shellshocked barbarian looks like she's about to drop her absurdly oversize axe; the bard and the sorcerer are clearly terrified, holding their weapons limply. The druid, on the other hand, looks resolute, angry and unafraid. The image is accompanied by the words "One more week! Pre-order now!"

The past truly is a foreign country. #DnD
A block of text from the AD&D Wilderness Survival Guide:

"A system for determining the weather at any time and place in the campaign world is a necessary part of a set of rules that defines and describes that world. Yet weather, by its very nature, is anything but systematic. Modem-day meteorologists, armed with all the equipment and knowledge that man has devised and accumulated, still can't always predict with certainty what the
weather will be from one day to the next — so how can a game designer hope to accomplish what they cannot?

"The resolution of this paradox lies in the judicious use of one of
the designer's most valuable tactics: simplicity."A Temperature Variation table that no one in the year 2026 of the Common Era would ever describe as "simple."The sentence that follows the initial excerpt:

"The tables and text on these pages may not look simple at first glance, but they are simple indeed compared to what would have been needed to account for all the combinations of terrain, climate, elevation, and location that exist on Earth."

OH IS THAT THE STANDARD WE'RE MEASURING THIS BY

Behold awesome illustrations by @jencmars.bsky.social
The book is open to a page with an illustration of a bandit deceiver, distracting the PCs with an illusion off a unicorn so that she can gank a magic item off the rather careless bard. The book is open to an illustration of the PCs taking shelter in a tower—fruitlessly, as a tarrasque has just knocked the top half of it off and is eating the bard. A scorching ray spell bounces off its hide. The book is open to an illustration of a black dragon chasing the PCs through a swamp. It has broken the barbarian's axe and the sorcerer's staff and holds the fragments in its clawed front feet. It's also spitting a big gob of acid.

Was thinking about buying a Guardian bike for the Oobit, but the vibes seemed a bit off. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a private equity disaster operation, so I sent an inquiry about the company's manufacturing. Vibes confirmed—not about the manufacturing, but definitely about the company itself.
A customer service reply consisting entirely of AI-generated slop text: "Hi Keith. It’s a great question, especially if you’re looking closely at where a child’s bike comes from. Guardian opened its own assembly factory in Indiana in summer 2022, and all Guardian bikes have been assembled in the U.S. since then. As of August 2025, Guardian also began manufacturing some single-speed frames at the Indiana facility. The 14-inch, 16-inch, and 20-inch small frames are manufactured in the USA. Guardian does not make every component domestically. Many parts come from a combination of global and U.S. suppliers, so the available information does not confirm that every bike or part is fully U.S.-made. The information available confirms Guardian’s own Indiana assembly facility, but it does not state how many separate outside manufacturers or suppliers Guardian works with. I don’t want to guess at that number. You can find the latest updates here: https://guardianbikes.com/pages/usa-factory. I hope this helps you make an informed choice for your family! Henry. Prepared with assistance from Guardian Bikes customer support tools and reviewed for quality assurance. 🚲"

What did the most damage to our country was the virus. What did the second most damage to our country was people deciding, since COVID-19 disproportionately impacted service workers and people of color, that it wasn't that big a deal and they were no longer willing to be inconvenienced over it.
From the CNN article: "'Trump, as you recall, wanted to end the lockdowns. I think the thing that did the most damage to our country was the lockdowns,' [RFK Jr.] said."

Happy birthday to my cover artist!
The cover of Making Enemies: A huge, pearlescent arthropod bursts out of a subterranean crevice and drives one of its large barbed claws through a dwarf fighter's abdomen. Another dwarf cowers in fear. The cover of How to Defend Your Lair: Three goblin children defend their treehouse and its treasures which include a sword, a teddy bear and an umbrella with a handle shaped like a duck. One is peering through a telescope, one is pulling up the rope ladder, and one is readying a slingshot. The cover of Live to Tell the Tale: Five former adventurers—a human fighter, a wood elf barbarian, a human wizard, a human ranger and a dwarf paladin—are gathered around a table happily drinking and reminiscing in front of a portrait of their younger selves and a wall covered with trophies of their monster kills.
