A great conversation on a complex issue with @alixdunn.com - I hope I was honest about the tradeoffs re protecting kids. It’s time to build bridges and get off Big Tech’s land, even as we make defaults safe for everyone. But my community should recognise that current moves meet real public anger.

been reading university/higher-ed policies on the use of genAI in education. most policies propose using genAI safely, ethically, & responsibly, which is an oxymoron. the way current genAI is developed, deployed & functions renders the very ideas of safety, ethics, and responsible use meaningless
