On 25 September 1995, David Bowie opened the door to a non-linear world of art crimes, technology and obsession with a seedy cast of characters. It was an album that baffled critics and puzzled fans.

One of the fascinating things in the David Bowie Centre was seeing his handwriting change from neat to scrawl; you got an immediate sense of the urgency of capturing an idea or a lyric.

At a time when concept albums had fallen out of favour, David Bowie and Brian Eno dived into a character-driven concept piece. As well as charting the recording of 1.Outside, INSIDE OUTSIDE also explores the each of the story's characters and features illustrations by Paul Thomas. amzn.eu/d/07RfRGtN

I love the fact that people who have ordered The Shel Talmy Recordings have also bought my book at the same time. Two eras of David Bowie that couldn't be more different, and that has always been one of the many pleasures of being a fan. amzn.eu/d/01NDKbpW

For years, I longed for a book that took a deep dive into David Bowie’s 1.Outside in the same way we've seen countless volumes on his 1970s albums. It almost felt like writers were afraid to embrace it. I decided it was time for such a book, and here it is. Inside Outside. amzn.eu/d/0d8TuPg7

I've always felt incredibly lucky to have seen David Bowie's Outside tour. Not only was it an amazing experience to see the mangetism of the guy live on stage, the choice of songs on that tour was superb. So many gems and rarities, some performed for the only time in his touring career.
