He should have been batting 1st last night for sure and for Boone to claim he wanted "more traffic" for Rice by slotting the worst qualified leadoff hitter in MLB this season is peak Boone. Analytics matter when they make him look good, "we have better numbers you don't know about" when they don't.

Eh, in a perfect lineup, Rice is batting behind Judge, IMO. Get a real leadoff hitter, then go Judge-Rice-Bellinger and go from there. Or bat Rice 2nd and Judge between Rice & Belli, but someone with speed and who gets on base should be 1st.

I don't either, but they desperately need a true leadoff hitter who can be on base when one of most prolific 1st inning HR hitters hits one, it's a multi-run dinger instead of a solo one. Also, having people on the bases generally puts pressure on pitchers, imagine what that could look like.

In whatever unlikely world where a cap doesn't happen, they really need to get someone like Tatis out of SD (or someone like him) even if that means giving up someone they don't want to part with. Number 1 lineup priority has to be getting a leadoff hitter who actually gets on base in front of Judge

Personally, I think they're stubbornly arrogant about their ways. They think they know they WILL win the division every year and when they don't, it's because injuries/other teams cheating/it rained on Tuesday/always an excuse. There's never accountability for they just aren't good enough.

They haven't won a series under Boone where they didn't have HFA. They've only won the division, despite having the highest payroll every year, 3/9 times. So many indicators are screaming the FO thinks it's all just fine.
