#LadiesOfLightLore The Ladies love changing their hair frequently, enough so that if I tried to actually take photos of them all or describe every single one, I'd be here all day. If you look through #LadiesOfLightPhotos on its own you can see a bunch of different examples.

The only other thing I will add to this discourse is that Solona herself said she is an experienced programmer, which means she did *not* need to use AI for Proteus. The environmental, societal, and mental impacts of the technology were clear when she chose to go forward with using it. >>

#LadiesOfLightLore Arguably it's Berude's fault that Khorijin had to face a canon antagonist-turned-sister: #Khoride, Khorijin's Fray, was already bubbling inside of Khorijin before DRK started, butt gained some of her more unsavory character traits from Khorijin's impression of Berude. (end)

#LadiesOfLightLore So, justified? No. Understandable? Yes. Berude mellows out some after Stormblood, but she & Khorijin did not get along well for most of Khorijin's life, and that only started to change after she was forced to recognize that Khorijin had gained the strength to become khagan. >>

#LadiesOfLightLore Khorijin being almost exactly like their mother and thus "embarrassing" Berude and the family further caused Berude to pick on Khorijin out of some twisted idea of making her tougher or less like Gorbeljin, to no avail; it just gave them bad blood. >>

#LadiesOfLightLore Some of it is misplaced trauma from other Borlaaqi children picking up on their parents' dislike of Gorbeljin, Khorijin and Berude's mother, and bullying Berude when she was a child; as a result, she became prickly and highly sensitive about family pride. >>

#LadiesOfLightLore #Khorijin has an older sister, Berude. She is definitely more "minor antagonist" coded than "villain" coded, but she is Khorijin's arrogant, haughty asshole of an oldest sister who bullied Khorijin for being withdrawn and being a "poor warrior", making their family look bad. >>

#Ystride (she/they) is selectively mute; it was way worse when they first re-emerged from Khorijin just before Endwalker. All the Ladies picked up sign language to help her communicate, and nowadays she mostly signs when super flustered, overwhelmed, or with their mute partner. #LadiesOfLightLore

#ffxivwrite #ffxivwrite2026 Day 17 - Fret Y'shtola fears for Wyra's health, and Wyra insists she shouldn't. 1.8k words, set during the events of Shadowbringers. Rated T. Content warnings and link below!
"Don't you need sleep too?" Wyra asks as he flops down unceremoniously on the couch, as Y'shtola sets about heating up water in the kettle so that she may brew the medicine she brought into a tea.

"Nonsense. There is work to be done," and before Wyra can protest, a knowing smile tugs at her lips. "And I might have had one too many cups of coffee for rest."

"Ahh, I see, so it's fine when you do shit like that, but not when I do it," Wyra says, some of his Shaaloani accent poking through as he gives an exaggerated, toothy grin, which is promptly wiped off his face as Y'shtola gently pulls him to sit up and closes the space between them, as she puts the back of her hand against his too-hot forehead. His ears suddenly feel a bit too-hot as well.

He's realizing he's never asked if she can see if someone blushes.

A rare one where I don't talk about how each Lady feels individually. This excludes Helena and Zardaar for the most part, because Helena has only met Halmarut and Zardaar has yet to meet Halmarut, I think. #LadiesOfLightLore
Generally speaking, Elidibus gets the most sympathy, sort of, in the sense that he's been so subsumed by his duty that it's hard for any of the Ladies who have met him to hate him.
Emet-Selch gets the least sympathy because everyone knows and can tell that he *knew* what he was doing was wrong but actively suppressed his conscience to do it.
Lahabrea also gets less sympathy mostly because the Ladies look at him as being roughly in the same position as Emet-Selch, even as Pandaemonium does make clear that some of the worst impulses he has to deal with aren't entirely of his own making.

No one likes Fandaniel, and even understanding where his grievances come from they find him despicable.
On principle, no one really wants to trust Halmarut.
Former Ascians are no problem if they actively Stop Scheming and give up on Ascian-like goals.Euphemia is where this gets most complicated, as Azem-who-was.
Hades was her close friend, but she unequivocally thinks that he was wrong, even though she understands his grief. Nothing justifies what he's done. She wasn't nearly as close to Lahabrea or Elidibus, but does have at least more sympathy for them, having a better understanding of just what happened to them both even as she disapproves of their decision.

The Sundered Ascians...she holds the same position as the other Ladies, in that she wishes they'd chosen differently. Fandaniel in particular she has a hard time feeling deep sympathy for because she intrinsically believes that people should search for their own answers, and whatever Hermes' intentions, he essentially threw his children at his existential crisis because he didn't want to face it himself.
Though she wants to know more of Halmarut's intentions, Euphemia prinicipally distrusts the idea of hard people making hard choices and doesn't like how Halmarut is thinking of dealing with the Solstice.
Former Ascians, though? Completely chill with as long as they're actively being Better.
She'd dote on Gaia like a granddaughter, for example.

Sorry, I went ham, as always. Universal honorable mentions for change by the AU fanfic writer's butcher block: - Removing any hint of polyamory - Rija and Helen aren't bi anymore
Mirita would probably just get the spirited Son Goku-esque tomboy treatment, who either stays incredibly butch and clueless about what sex and relationships are or gets enlightened to them by becoming more girly or being the "butch" one.
The real Mirita *does* has an extremely hot temper when she gets pissed off, but is not really a rough person in personality overall nor is she completely oblivious about sex and relationships. A lot of it is the demisexuality, but a large part of it is also just deliberately not thinking about her own identity, or her own insecurities about not knowing her own family history; a lot of her external personality is really her, but a lot of it is also projecting the type of person she wants to be.

Khorijin would probably get written as a frigid, man-hating lesbian at the expense of anything else, or would wind up opening her heart to Foulques during the Lancer storyline and would become a warm-hearted, compassionate person by the end of that.
The real Khorijin is misandric and emotionally repressed for the vast majority of
ARR and Heavensward, but not so completely that she can't break through it sometimes (see: the real Khorijin *does* ensure Foulques's survival, but she is kind of a dick to him about it the entire time), and it takes Haurchefant and Ysayle dying for her to finally admit that her own misandry and emotional unavailability are large parts of her own misery.
Rija would likely be written as the slutty comic relief character because
she's bi and flirty and proud of her body, leaning into some colorist nonsense to boot, or a hack would take her Thancred connection and use that to imply she just didn't find the right man to settle her down—but he can!
The real Rija is actually a bit of a mom friend, to asuffocating degree sometimes, and while she *is* flirty and proud of her body,
she also just...she's somewhere on the demiromantic scale, and she's bi as fuck. While she does like sex and has a fair bit of it, it's not because she's hypersexual or whatever; she just connects really well to people with sex a lot of the time. Not *always*, but a lot of the time. There is no one who can "settle her down" enough to make her stop being herself, and that's the point of her character.

Khoride, being Khorijin's Fray, would probably be treated as either a warning against vigilantism or used to lionize it, and a sanist take on plurality, mostly a "oh no, Khorijin has lost control of her killing instincts and has DID" type beat.
The real Khoride has to learn both that it's not wrong to be resentful AND that dismantling unjust systems means
aiming at the *system*, not just the people who run it, and she does become a more fully realized person over time.
However, the real Khoride also does not lose her penchant for violent sadism when she's pushed too far or wants to make a point; she literally named herself a Devil Goddess specifically to spite Vauthry calling himself
a god, and did gruesomely torture him as he was dying after the 79 trial on Mt. Gulg specifically because he hurt Kai-Shirr. Ystride, being Khorijin's Myste, would probably get the uwu soft bean treatment to excess, with her selective mutism being completely cured by making friends, and would probably remain a child to facilitate that. Being nonbinary would probably be rationalized as "being confused about being a mix of Haurchefant and Ysayle alongside Khorijin's own self-perception".
The real Ystride is an adult and reasons like one, and has to come to terms with a guilty streak that borders on being a certain type of arrogance & a judgmental streak a mile wide because they treat Khorijin & Khoride
like heartless murderers because of the lives they've both taken.
The two major points of their character arc are "stop self-flagellating over your mistakes, because that's another form of self-obsession" & "Khorijin and Khoride aren't violent killing machines, stop treating them like they are". No amount of soft bean treatment will make that lesson clear for Ystride without them being treated like an adult.

Euphemia would probably be extremely open about how lonely she actually feels with Hades and Hythlodaeus gone, and the gaps in her memories that exist. She'd be welcomed into the Ladies' circle with open arms and be the
perfect mother figure for all of them, using her Azem powers to fix a bunch of shit with a snap of her fingers in ways that the Ladies who sharded from her can't. The real Euphemia...sort of did actually wind up like this fake one, but with a lot more grief and melancholy hidden beneath her smiles, and no willingness to simply flaunt her power carelessly.
A lot of what characterizes Euphemia is not just the sincerity of her softness and her gentleness, but also how she uses that to deflect from a lot of wistful grief about the Ancient world, about how she chose to
abandon both Venat and the Convocation to walk her own road, how Emet-Selch became such a twisted parody of a person, and how in some way she really might not be the entirely same "Euphemia" that was Azem.Helena's badass stoicism would be played entirely straight with only one very special chapter where she monologues about the difficulties of her life and promises to be softer and gentler.
The real Helena is a lot like Khorijin in that she doesn't really open up to the group very much to start off with and even is a bit standoffish immediately after Dawntrail is over despite coming to like the group. She can be demanding, acerbic, and imperious, and doesn't make herself emotionally open easily.
And none of that is necessarily something to be *fixed*, precisely. She knows it puts some people off, but it is who she is. She does her best not to push when someone gives her a lot of control over them, but she knows who she is and she lives with that. She does learn to *give* a little on that front, but she doesn't stop being herself either, and the Ladies come to understand how she operates rather than force her to change.

Zardaar would probably get written into a romance with Kelis immediately after meeting her, and would probably be written to settle down with her as her stoic badass protector knight.
The real Zardaar does have a romantic and emotional attachment to Kelis, and does have a protective side, but also couldn't bring herself to just stay "where it's safe" either. Her emotional trauma from before coming to Eorzea wouldn't allow for that, even with Kelis being kind to her; it's hard for Zardaar to just sit around and do nothing, or only satisfy herself protecting Kelis, especially since Kelis is really largely a normal woman living a normal life; Zardaar inevitably wants to move past Ul'dah even if she intends to keep her connection to Kelis.

#LadiesOfLightLore I will probably, eventually, examine the Khorijin, Khoride, Ystride/Kuyuk connection more deeply at some point. Maybe the same for Rija and Agnar, but I've noticed that (maybe because of my own personal circumstances) that dads don't figure a lot into the Ladies' lives.
- Mirita never met M'jalla, but also loves and respects him as much as she does her mother M'toko since she got to see both of them in an Echo vision and got a concrete sense of how much he loved her.

- Khorijin's other parent Kuyuk (Kuyuk would reject the term "dad" not so much because they don't think of themselves as parent material, but because they're not a dude) knows that Khorijin exists, but doesn't have any relationship with Khorijin either.
Gorbeljin didn't hide Kuyuk's existence from Khorijin or Berude (who is the only other one of Gorbeljin's first four daughters that shares Kuyuk as a parent), but Khorijin never had a particular interest in learning more about Kuyuk.
As she *currently* is, Khorijin would probably get along well with them all told.

- Rija similarly doesn't know Agnar very well; he knows she exists, he knows she exists, but he does a lot of more traditional Wood Warding and they've spoken maybe a handful of times. They don't dislike each other but things would be awkward at first.

- Khoride and Ystride's other parent would be Kuyuk, so see Khorijin's section for the majority of how that goes.

- Euphemia had a pretty good, normal bond with Andronikos and remembers him fondly; much like Euphemia's mother Sophia, he passed on before Euphemia came of age, so she has enough memories of him to have an idea of who he was but never got to know him as his adult child.- Helena gets along just fine with Sambor; he's a goofy, light-hearted sort of guy, not at all serious like Helena or Vesna, but Helena has never had any real problems with him and enjoys his jokes.

- Zardaar deeply respected Kaanvil, and loved him deeply; he was supportive of her when she expressed a desire to transition, and supported her desire to help continue the work of cleaning up the remnants of the Iron Horde. Unfortunately, Yrel's Lightbound fanaticism swept him up due to his own unresolved trauma over the events of Warlord of Draenor, which Zardaar herself didn't appreciate and which turned their relationship unpleasant.
Now, stranded in Eorzea, she doesn't think about him if she can help it.

As always when I respond to Ikumi asking such good questions: I had to yap. #LadiesOfLightLore
- Mirita never knew her biological mother, but has seen Echo-visions of her.
She loves her deeply despite not having had the chance to meet her, especially after learning that her mother worked so hard to get Mirita to safety at the cost of her own life. However, Euphemia is very much a doting and caring mother to her (though it took a lot of post-Endwalker to build that up), and they get along wonderfully.

- Khorijin and Gorbeljin get along wonderfully, though at first glance it
doesn't seem so due to their shared "stoneface" making it seem like their relationship is very stiff from the outside. They relate to each other very well and can have entire conversations with just the barest facial expressions and the occasional word or noise.
Her relationship with Euphemia is by contrast a little more distant, though
by Dawntrail Khorijin acknowledges her as a second mother in her quiet way.

- Rija has a good relationship with her mother, though they do have a few things to address mostly in terms of what we would call "parentification" mostly because Rija had more than a few occasions where she had to help raise her younger sisters and sibling and it played into a few complexes she had about being the mom friend as an adult.
Part of that process is Rija gradually accepting Euphemia as a second mother too, which is a bit easier than it is for Khorijin and Khoride mostly because of how gently Euphemia approaches motherhood.- After learning about Khoride, Gorbeljin and Khoride gradually come to terms with their relationship, though Gorbeljin is rather startled to learn that she has two additional younger children (Khoride and Ystride). For her part, Khoride has inherited Khorijin's care and respect for Gorbeljin.
Euphemia and Khoride have an equally slow build up as Euphemia and Khorijin, but eventually it comes to fruition.

- Ystride and Gorbeljin take a little time to become comfortable with each other; though Ystride holds Gorbeljin in high regard due to her inherited memories of Gorbeljin, one of Ystride's biggest fears is that they're not "Borlaaqi" enough for Gorbeljin to connect with her (which really isn't the case, but Ystride's
own shyness and insecurities make it a little harder for her to read Gorbeljin
the way Khorijin and Khoride do).
Similarly to Mirita, though, her relationship with Euphemia is pretty good,
and next to Mirita she's the closest to Euphemia of the five Ladies who consider Euphemia a second mother.

- Euphemia herself had a fairly good relationship with Sophia, though she
unfortunately didn't get to come to her majority while Sophia was still
alive. She has a complicated relationship with Venat, who was essentially her second mother in the same way that Euphemia is Mirita, Khorijin, Khoride, Rija, and Ystride's second mother; she loved Venat dearly but couldn't accept either Venat's answer to the Final Days nor the Convocation's, and left Venat on somewhat bittersweet terms.
- Helena and Vesna get along fine; while Vesna spent a lot of time on
queenly responsibilities and the like growing up, Helena learned how to use
a gunblade directly *from* her mother, and they spent a lot of time with
each other both related to those duties and not; while Helena's decision
to become a member of the nascent Bozjan resistance immediately after the Bozja Incident did cause a little tension, they did *eventually* talk
about it.

- Zardaar's relationship with Altalaa was wonderful; she supported Zardaar
coming out to her and helped ensure her transition, alongside Zardaar's father Zalhaam. However, the stresses of the events of Warlords of Draenor as well as the following years caused Altalaa to become more and more sympathetic to the Lightbound, which sours her relationship with Zardaar well before Zardaar's self-appointed mission to stop the Lightbound from chasing the Mag'har to Azeroth.
Zardaar tries not to talk about or think about her mother in the present day.

Not to mention the intersectionality of the black femme. The black stud. I see a lot of people using stud for non black butch lesbians and please let me correct you. Labels for aesthetic and not dive any deeper into their actual societal meanings. Especially to those respective communities.

I don’t know if they told yall this- But umm. Femme & butch is also political. There’s wayyyyy more to butch and femme than others may educate the masses on. Not to mention the STARK difference between femme & fem. If we figured THAT out I’d be so happy.

Everyone that isn't Euphemia answers with the truth, because Euphemia telling the strict truth sounds like a lie. The in-universe ages of the Ladies as of this post & patch 7.5 are below. Characters without a * will have their ages bumped by a year by the time Evercold starts. #LadiesOfLightLore
Mirita: 33* (June 11)
Khorijin, Khoride: 34* (April 15)
Rija: 38 (December 26)
Ystride: 32 (October 14)
Helena: 44* (June 28)
Euphemia: 39 (physically), 37,414 (chronologically, resuming the count from her age of 37,412 when sundered) (December 13)
Zardaar: 37 (December 22)

If I come up with something I like after initial vague details (like with a lot of FFXIV Write this year) I adjust as I need to. I prefer to bend or push canon before outright breaking it but sometimes I do (e.g., pushing up the original Ala Mhigan occupation to accommodate a character's age). (1/2)

#LadiesOfLightLore Assuming we weren't limited to only places where there are aetherytes: Khorijin would've started in the Steppe, Rija in Golmore, and Helena in Bozja, as those are their respective homelands. Khoride, Ystride, Euphemia, and Zardaar: N/A.
