Oh my god, I’m so sorry!!! How terrifying. As someone who used to primarily take public transit in LA I had so many near-misses. Had to jump out of the way once. I hope you’re feeling better and continue to heal well!

This for the opticians but look at my poor glasses. Left: Backup Right: Worn during accident The wrap used to match on these. I kinda got em back into shape with pliers/washcloth but the x-ing is still bad. I’m nervous tho since this frame is pretty solid and I don’t wanna push it at home.

The right pair shows signs of x-ing, meaning the lenses are twisted. The wrap is also stronger due to the impact of the airbag, meaning the curve along the front is stronger. The arms are bent outward, and I was awkwardly holding the glasses on my face after the accident.

All these things can cause vision difficulties/comfort issues in a pair of glasses.

(I’m an ABO Certified optician, but I’ve been out of the field a few years. Kept my certification active, though!)

I went to the ER after the accident!

Gotta find humor somewhere! 5 years ago Alex and I were hit by a distracted woman going the wrong way down a one way street who ran a red light. Totaled the car. We replaced it with the Kia Rio and assumed it couldn’t happen again. And then I got into this new accident solo lol.

I unfortunately was the victim of an extremely distracted driver who blindly drove into an intersection in the middle of our green light on a highway. She hit another car that was ejected into my empty lane in front of me. Not much I coulda done. 😭 Stay safe out there!

My poor baby. She died protecting me. 😭

Yes! No broken windows. I’m very shocked. The front collapsed and took everything. My knees are bruised but not because the cabin crumpled inward. Considering the speed of this accident it could have been so much worse. I also narrowly avoided a utility pole. Feeling very grateful today.

This was an accident involving 3 vehicles total, all sedan-sized. Vehicle A blindly drove into a highway intersection to turn left when she had a red light. She slammed into Vehicle B, who was turned sideways and ejected into my lane in front of me. Vehicle B and my Kia Rio were going ~40-45mph.

Still shocked I can hit a solid object at 45mph and walk away. Modern engineering is amazing. (I mean I’d rather have mass public transit but…) Feeling very lucky and thankful.

Insurance unfortunately gives you GameStop trade in prices for your totaled car, but we’re gonna be okay! Someone got dashcam footage so it’s VERY CLEAR I’m not at fault, ha. At least we won’t have to fight about that.

It wasn’t even a fresh light. 😭 A distracted driver leaving her mother’s funeral just… drove into the middle of oncoming traffic. She hit a car that was flipped sideways and pushed into my lane directly in front of my car. A giant, giant error. Grateful there weren’t any funerals because of it.

If I had a nickel for every time someone totaled our car by running a red light… I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice! (The Kia Rio’s airbags get a 10/10 rating from me, btw. I walked away from this with just abrasions, muscle strain, and bruises.)

I think this relatable for a lot of artists nowadays. It’s so hard to access that creative joy and focus with everything™ going on in the world and our personal lives. The internet also used to be more fun and it felt like no effort at all to post. Now it feels like work, I guess? I don’t know.
