It’s amazing what can happen when we organize for people, not just a comfortable middle. I’m proud to have supported the @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social campaign, but more importantly, to elevate the city I call home. I believe that we will win.

Chuck Mangione was one of the few celebrities I've met who you presumed was kind and actually was. His music is good NYC walking music and that's high praise. Even on stage, he played like he was sharing a gift he received from on high. He met with every fan, including this one:

Aight bet.
what they did yesterday afternoon
Warsan Shire
they set my aunts house on fire i cried the way women on tv do folding at the middle like a five pound note. i called the boy who used to love me tried to 'okay' my voice i said hello he said warsan, what's wrong, what's happened?
i've been praying, and these are what my prayers look like; dear god i come from two countries one is thirsty the other is on fire both need water.
later that night i held an atlas in my lap ran my fingers across the whole world and whispered where does it hurt?
it answered everywhere everywhere everywhere.

2. How does the separate and unequal nature of American schooling affect decision-making processes, and how do these contrasts explain where we are today in terms of educational policy and implementation?

3. Is education a public good, a private good, or both? Whose interests have been served in the past? Whose interests have been left behind?

Come learn about some of the themes, policies, and cases that have shaped education in the United States!

Well, that escalated quickly, so: What’s good? Jose Vilson, former 15-year math teacher turned sociologist (PhD). I gained notoriety as a teacher activist during the NCLB/Bloomberg era, and got my blog blocked from all NYC DOE computers! Now, I study the present and future of teaching. Salute!

Update: I voted early in NYC on Monday. Got off the bus. Walked five minutes. I walked in, got my ballot, filled in a few circles, put my sticker on, and walked right out. About 15 minutes total. Oh, and I got a thank you on the way out from the workers. 10/10, fully recommend.

You're right that we shouldn't think locally about our politics, but usually, it *is* the down-ballot politics that get lost in the arguments about presidential candidates. And if your state has early voting, you have the time/space to vote, and you know what you're voting for, no need to wait. ✌🏾
