When people who would profit from less regulation are asking for MORE regulation any intelligent person would listen. China is not the threat. AI itself is.

Watching Dario Amodei and Sam Altman address the UN Security Council jointly to express the existential threat of AI. Trump is unwilling to listen to Anthropic and OpenAI. The UN must listen and must treat these threats much the same as we do nuclear weapons. They must be regulated and monitored.

I can tell you from very personal experience that we pay close attention to the results of the annual Interop efforts. If you are a developer who has been driven nuts by non-interoperable implementations in different browsers, please allow your voice to be heard.

When I started in the CSSWG back in 2009 or 10, this was a scenario Howcome brought up all the time as something we should be targeting. It’s harder than it looks :-)

But I have to “own” that code so I can’t do that. So, either I should be able to PR the AI code; or, I shouldn’t use AI to code at all. Doing so without any trust is just expensive. Am I holding this right?
000
John Jansen @thejohnjansen.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
but it takes me longer to understand what the AI was doing than it would have taken me to write something similar myself AND it cost tokens to generate said code… wouldn’t it be better and faster to just have me write it to begin with? If I could just PR the AI code, that’s one thing.

Currently on my mind… If I “save time” by using AI to write code for me, but then I cannot submit a pull request for that code without evaluating it line by line (which feels right to me, I mean, it’s “my” code after all).

Funny how a congressman is just spouting this stuff. He was elected to prevent this. But he can’t figure out how to do it, so he shouts from the bleachers like parents at a kids’ baseball game. If you’re in the stands all of your yelling DOES NOT MATTER. Get in the game, man.

This kind of story makes me so sad. This is what a mother would do, but then we take the kittens and they just “go away” from the mom’s perspective. Don’t get me wrong: I have 1 rescue cat and 2 rescue dogs. But I think about their moms all the time. These animals have real emotions and connections

For those in the US, this IS actually possible to have happen… The Rangers (NHL) play at Madison Square Garden and the Knicks (NBA) play at Madison Square Garden. So if the Celtics (NBA) were in town to play the Knicks on a day where MSG has one of their “double headers” this is very possible.

There is 0 chance that Trump or the 3 guys he says told him to do this (Hegseth, Rubio, and Kushner) knew that the Strait of Hormuz exists. And none of them knows any military strategy at all.

I would say that the problem with our government right now is he accurately states what is happening and uses the word “illegally” several times, yet there is not punishment and the crimes will continue. With no consequences, illegal behavior has no reason the stop. Relying on “morals” doesn’t work.

Humans are not born understanding the concept of “cause and effect” and it’s pretty clear some people never learn it. I mean: it doesn’t start until we’re like 8 weeks old and 3 year olds demonstrate predictions based on actions. But people in Florida and Louisiana? Not so much.
