Judaism makes room for contradictions, questions, and complexity. So must our public conversations. We don’t have to choose between Jewish safety & inclusive democracy, or between fighting antisemitism & other forms of hate. These needs are interconnected.

Widespread voter fraud is a myth. But disenfranchisement is real.   SCOTUS' decision allowing Pres. Trump to use a flawed system to purge voter rolls means legal voters may be unable to vote — and it reinforces dangerous conspiracy theories about stolen elections, which we know lead to violence.

Antisemitism and misogyny (and white supremacy, of course) fuel each other in a constant cycle — sowing division and distrust in order to undercut the very coalitions we need to advance our shared rights and safety. Gloria Steinem knew that. (via @forward.com)
She recognized how antisemitism and misogyny fed each other. In her memoir, Steinem recalled a cabdriver telling her that feminism was a Jewish plot to destroy the Christian family. Her response to such hatred was not to distance herself from Jews, but to identify with them more strongly.
