Perhaps it's just that it feels more... simple? A lot seems sacrificed for that sense of high speed, and you end up with it feeling linear and less interesting. I still have to explore this thought a bit more extensively, but that's where it stands right now.

Grey ➡️ SonicExpo: Dallas @thegreywolf.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Maybe I just haven't played enough of the newer titles, but most of the footage I've seen of them just feels like I'm looking at a freeway's worth of empty space to accomodate the spectacle of Sonic having to be '''fast'''. It feels like it's missing something that I can't quite put my finger on.

Grey ➡️ SonicExpo: Dallas @thegreywolf.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

From a gameplay perspective, it makes sense to me. I've contemplated before if making Sonic *really* fast in-game hinders and limits level design/gameplay. The Adventures and Heroes had this nice feeling of a balanced and (mostly) controllable speed, and got more varied level design as a result.

seeing some posts around about Dusklight being an ai port, i'd appreciate it if people stopped spreading misinfo or taking various discord messages out of context. Dusklight does not rely on ai, and is stated as such in the readme. any third-party fork/mod that uses ai is unrelated to us

Hadn't sketched it up fully or had anything ready, so it never made it to the ref, but this is the form mentioned in the little blurb in the corner. No idea how much of a change in height this will be yet, but it's a start.

none of the original devs and writers are on this and its being worked on with some vague AI engine, just save your money for something like Stupid Never Dies in 6 weeks or just emulate the original game with all the license music and costumes on the ps3 emulator, it's surprisingly easy to do.
