Jeffrey Lewis’ ‘Spin it or Bin it’ ongoing series trawling through his (and sometimes others’) vinyl is a daily joy, feels like it’s becoming one of THE classic bits of music curation a la Nurse With Wound list/Kurt’s favourite 50 albums but for psych/acid folk freaks. Look it up on fb/insta/YT.

Island Life - Borderline Apostasy (featuring Jeff Young) About a year ago I took a punt and messaged one of my favourite authors @wildtwin.bsky.social about collaborating on a tune I was working on. To my surprise and delight he agreed. Here’s the result. islandlife1.bandcamp.com/track/border...

Some years ago a front page headline of The S*n read “Leblanc Not Sorry For Cenotaph Donuts” and I stared at it in the newsagents for a full 5 minutes, utterly perplexed.

Right. I have now added six more recent pylon artworks to my ink/watercolour originals shop. Here are the first three. If you could share this post I’d be appreciative. If you want to buy one before sharing that’s also fine. www.chloecumming.com/inkwater

Leaning pylon with pole, a green hillside situation, ink lines, watercolour washes, soft colours, expressive marks

Windswept pylon, golden brown landscape with large broad based wonky pylon with loose expressive ink lines and some white highlights on the structure

More minimal ghostly pylon, with wet ink lines

Why is it the ultra-wealthy manage to be mad in the most boring ways imaginable?

Not really adding anything new to the conversation here by saying this is phenomenal and you should all read it. But it is, and you should.

His headers always really remind me of those Onion commentary pieces.

Onion Commentary piece titled “I’d probably do fine in prison because I get along with everybody”

Produced some great titles but I was always a bit freaked out by their large format paperbacks and .95 price points (nitpicking you say?)

I really enjoyed the season 1 back in lockdown (think it was you recommending it that got me interested) then failed to watch any more! Will pick back up. Incidentally have you read any of Chris Petit’s Schlegel & Morgen trilogy? Chronologically starts where BB ends, might be up your street.

Maybe only part of what you’re talking about but I think Covid did a number on kids in this regard, (as it did in many other ways also) - a 2 year period where going out was effectively illegal or v heavily policed & self-employed party heads had to get ‘proper’ jobs killed the diy spirit.

This is fun. I’ve got loads of these as I’m sure has everyone but gonna go with Oh! You Pretty Things into Eight Line Poem on Hunky Dory. Sounds like an outro on the same song, same key, same piano chord ends one and starts the next…..

Cock Tavern ticks most of those boxes bar the burgers and is about 100m from Moth Club. Pembury Tavern a tiny bit further, also decent (basically Five Points own tap room these days) does pizza I think.

Yeah, that run was definitely on my mind when I mentioned ‘contenders’. Again, flawless, game changing, insane really.

Mine and Jimmy’s previous band Blood Valley supported that night (along with Martini Henry Rifles), an evening of heavy perspiration and carnage. Think Paul fainted on stage due to the heat!

Yeah I think my order would go: Entwistle Townshend (you could keep him quiet by gifting him weird instruments from charity shops which he’d then feel compelled to stay in his room and master) Daltrey Moon (Daltrey edges him by simple fact of not being Keith Moon).

Hypothetical situation: you have to share a flat with 1 member of the Who (classic line-up). What’s your order of preference?

The Seeds was a double bill with Love at The Forum and Sky was on killer form with a great young band who really nailed the Seeds sound.
