I just dropped off 5 copies of my debut at a local bookstore yesterday! They won't be processed until next week, but I'm very excited to have local readers wander in and find it sitting on a shelf somewhere. #wichitaict #supportindie #shoplocal #author

I tried my hand at making one of those eye banners I've seen floating around. This is about as good as I can get with my current skill level tho. #eyebanner #digitalart #sona

Just YEETED the last of the remaining tiktoks I had on that platform off into the void. Apparently, with the latest sale and TOS changes (that I accidentally agreed to), they can feed new videos into AI for training. (1//2) #fuckai

Just made it to 10k for book 2 of The Chronicles of Ismir Series. I've been feeling very productive this January so far creatively. #writinggoals #indieauthor

Mickey (They/Them) @thegardenstorm.bsky.social · 01/12/2025

Wrote about another 1k words for my debut's sequel. We're sitting at 4,542 wc total. My goal is to hit close to 10k by the end of the year. Of course, that means I need 5.5k in one month 😅. We'll see how that goes... #booksky 🪐📚 🌈📚 ✒️🌈 #writingwip #indieauthor

I just have 2 packages left to get out to backers for my debut novel's kickstarter 🤭. I'm very excited. #newauthor #debutnovel #fantasy #darkfantasy 💙📚 ✒️🌈 🪐📚

In case anyone wants to know, cause I did research on what pens are used for signing books and came up with SHARPIES 🫠, I used a Paper Mate Ink Joy gel 0.7 in green. I've had issues with it when writing for prolonged times in the past, but for signatures, it worked great with no bleed 👍. 💙📚 ✒️🌈 🪐📚

Worked a bit on a friend Sim game today that I made with some friends earlier this year, including @fineline-feline.bsky.social . It was fun to shape it back into something playable with the looming deadline of the game jam far behind us. #gamejam #gamedesign #coding #twine

Today was the launch day for my debut novel. I celebrated by going out with friends and family to kpot and then playing mtg with more friends afterwards. It was a good day 😊. bookshop.org/a/116170/979... 💙📚 ✒️🌈 🪐📚

The remainder of the extras I order for the Kickstarter are now up on my website! With the book launch being Nov. 15th, I'm trying to get everything ready! EBooks will be made available through my website on the 15th. Paperbacks will be available once I get stock in and send out backer orders. 💙📚 ✒️🌈

Mickey (They/Them) @thegardenstorm.bsky.social · 11/11/2025

Just sent out eBooks to backers yesterday!!!! So excited for people to start reading book 1! I'm taking a little break from writing so I can relax and get all of the Kickstarter orders sent out as soon as the physical books hit my doorstep. But I am at 3,429 words for book 2 currently! 💙📚 🌈✒️ 🪐📚

Mickey (They/Them) @thegardenstorm.bsky.social · 03/11/2025

Gonna post a Kickstarter Update tomorrow, but all extras are printed and have arrived at my house. Still waiting to hear back from ingram regarding my book order I placed, but with the launch date coming up Nov. 15th, the book is avaliable for preorder on bookshop.org/a/116170/979... minus extras 💙📚

I'm wondering how to go about including Native myths and culture in my writing. For the record, I'm part Cherokee but didn't grow up experiencing the culture much. I'd love to include other tribes in my writing in a way that's honoring them, but also understandably fiction. 📚💙

Mickey (They/Them) @thegardenstorm.bsky.social · 02/11/2025

Just finished with some research. My rabbit hole led me from Bismuth -> Molybdenum mining operations -> Colorado -> the Ute Mountain Tribe -> Ute language (an academic paper behind a pay wall 😭) So I guess that's it for the night. #booksky #author

Mickey (They/Them) @thegardenstorm.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

I saw a post the other day that an author got a bad review because their book had no spice in it. I swear if I get a review like that, I might laugh. My debut is dark fantasy ya. My characters are around 16-17, with some a bit older. The most "spice" I have is two of them bonding over reading

Very excited for all my Kickstarter goodies to arrive plus the books and start getting stuff sent out for book 1! I'm excited to start working more heavily on book 2, but for now I've been jotting down notes and ideas as they come to me. I've got a pretty good outline going already. #booksky

I made my own little page break symbols! Inspired by my cover artists' little eyes, she added to the design. (Ignore the header, it'll be flipped in the final, I was messing around with formatting.) #booksky #bookdesign
