Foley is sonic cosplay. You break down the textures, clothing, props, and performance of the character: and then portray them in the world or the story. I say “weaponized asmr” to describe the effect of Foley but in the craft, we are sonically dressing the character. And then, walking the runway.

I super relate to this. I used to get compared to my dad a lot by the older Taiwanese moms of the town I grew up in, and it was only much much later that I realized he was considered “extremely attractive by Taiwanese standards” I’m compared to my mom way more now, but it was funny while it lasted

Growing up I got recognized around town because I looked like my dad, a lot, and he was a surgeon so randoms would wanna show me their scars. Anyway, for six months after coming out I heard over and over "you look just like your mom!" Which was new and weird for me but now is a feeling I cherish.
